In accordance with the EASA Continuing Airworthiness Procedures, the Executive Director is proposing the issuance of an EASA Airworthiness Directive
(AD), applicable to the aeronautical product(s) identified below.

Applicability:
Dornier 328-100 aeroplanes, all manufacturer serial numbers (MSN), and Dornier 328-300
aeroplanes, all MSN.
Definitions:
For the purpose of this AD, the following definitions apply:
The SB: 328 Support Services GmbH Service Bulletin SB-328-25-574 (for Dornier 328-100
aeroplanes), or SB-328J-25-337 (for Dornier 328-300 aeroplanes), as applicable
The AFM emergency procedure: Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) Temporary Revisions (TR) AFM-TR 19-
009, AFM-TR 19-010, AFM-TR 19-011 and AFM-TR 19-012 (for Dornier 328-100 aeroplanes) or AFM-

TR 19-004, AFM-TR 19-005, AFM-TR 19-006, AFM-TR 19-007 and AFM-TR 19-008 (for Dornier 328-
300 aeroplanes), as applicable.
The AFM: Dornier 328-100 AFM Doc. No. AM-AFM-050893-ENV issue dated 28 Febuary 2021 and
Dornier 328-300 AFM Doc. No. AM-AFM-050599-ENV issue dated 21 Febuary 2021, which contain
the content of the AFM emergency procedure, as defined in this AD.
Reason:
EASA issued Continuing Airworthiness Review Item (CARI) 25-09 requesting Type Certificate Holders
to investigate the potential risk of in-flight fire of lithium batteries installed in Personal Electronic
Devices (PED). PED stowage locations in the flight deck may be located in the proximity of oxygen
lines, oxygen mask boxes and/or other critical system components. The effect of a PED fire on a
critical system component as well as the development of smoke in the flight deck had to be
investigated. Dornier 328 aeroplanes have some possible stowages for PED in the flight deck and a
safety analysis was performed at all possible locations. As a result, for the side console forward
stowage, it was concluded that in case of a PED fire, the panels of the stowage may not be able to
withstand the released heat and the oxygen supply line can be damaged.
This condition, if not corrected, could result in an oxygen fed fire in the flight deck, possibly
resulting in an uncontrolled fire.
To address this potential unsafe condition, 328 Support Services (the previous Design Approval
Holder) issued the SB, as defined in this AD, to install a placard "NO PED STOWAGE" in the cockpit at
the side console forward stowage, and to install fire resistant gloves as emergency equipment
stowed in the cockpit step, next to the fire extinguisher. In addition, 328 Support Services issued the
AFM emergency procedure, as defined in this AD, and revised the AFM, as defined in this AD.
For the reasons described above, this AD requires the installation of a placard and fire resistant
gloves, and the amendment of the applicable AFM.
AFM Amendment:
(2) Within 24 months after the effective date of this AD, amend the applicable AFM by
incorporating the AFM emergency procedure or use the AFM, inform all flight crews, and,
thereafter, operate the aeroplane accordingly.

The use of later approved revisions of the above-mentioned documents is acceptable for
compliance with the requirements of this AD.

than those covered by the design to which this PAD applies, if the same unsafe condition can
exist or may develop on an aircraft with those components installed. Such components may be
installed under an FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), Supplemental Type Certificate
(STC) or other modification.
