You won the Best Student Award this year. Make a diary entry expressing your feelings .

Dear Diary
The school assembly held to announce the winner of the Best Student Award, felt uneventful as I felt I
was a non- contender . My lethargic half – hearted attention, was rudely shaken awake when some
classmates simply picked me up on their shoulders and raced to the podium. When the news sank in , I
saw rings before my eyes. I mumbled a quick ' Thank you sir’, as the Principal shook hands with me.
A surge of happiness surged in when I saw my parents and I hugged them . How can I ever forget this
memorable day of my life! The moment of pride, smiles on my parents’ faces will always remain etched
in my mind .

Subject: The urgent need to save our rivers

Sir/Ma’am
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the general public towards
the pathetic condition of our rivers. In India, rivers are considered holy and are worshipped. However,
bathing/washing clothes in the rivers, dumping industrial waste sewage from our houses, etc. have
polluted the rivers. This water reaches us and we use it in our day-to-day lives . As a result of this, the
chances of toxins and diseases causing germs entering our body is huge. In addition to this ,
contaminated river water is a threat to plants and animals as well . Therefore, there is a desperate need
to save our rivers.
The need of hour is efficient sewage disposal process. Spreading awareness about this is extremely
important.
I hope I was able to put my point across and that the readers will take appropriate action to save our
rivers.
Thanking you

Yours sincerely
Kiran

My dear Soham
I hope you are hale and hearty. Nevertheless, I am sure you will not be feeling very comfortable in
Delhi. It must be very cold there. Yet, it may surprise you that I have visited Simla last week. Instead of
feeling uncomfortable, I enjoyed myself a lot.
It was the end of December. The usual crowds of summer days were absent. We got a comfortable
room. In the morning, I opened the window. What a scene ! It was snowing all around. We were two
persons in the room. Both of us dressed ourselves well and came out in the open. It was my first
experience of enjoying the snow-fall.
1 kept on the road for a long time.
In the afternoon, I watched an exciting programme of ice-skating. I could not participate in it. Yet, it
was a treat to watch.
With love.
Yours affectionately

“Autobiography of Park Bench”
I began my journey as a single, rough-hewn plank, chosen from the heartwood of an oak tree. Skilled
hands shaped me into a vessel of comfort and tranquility, with a mission to provide solace to weary
souls.
In the workshop, artisans meticulously sculpted me. They contoured my surface to perfection, polished
me to a gentle sheen, and infused me with the warmth of varnish, sealing my character for generations
to come.
Nestled within the confines of a picturesque park, I found my home. The tranquil embrace of nature,
with its whispering leaves and melodious birdsong, served as the backdrop for countless moments of
respite.
I stood as a silent sentinel, bearing witness to the full spectrum of human emotions. Lovers carved their
initials on my surface, friends reveled in laughter, and dreamers sought inspiration within my serene
presence.
As seasons cycled, I bore the brunt of nature’s fury. Rain soaked my surface, snow blanketed me, and
the sun’s relentless rays kissed me with warmth. Yet, I remained unyielding, a symbol of enduring
strength.
The changing seasons adorned me with different moods. I watched as spring’s blossoms painted the
park in vibrant hues, and autumn’s golden leaves carpeted the ground. Nature and I shared an eternal
dance.
Over the years, I provided comfort to generations. Children climbed upon me, adolescents confided
their secrets, and the elderly found solace in my steady embrace. Each left a mark on my heart.
As the years roll by, I reflect on the legacy of tranquility I’ve offered. Though I may be a simple bench,
my role in fostering connections and providing a respite from life’s chaos fills me with fulfillment.
My autobiography is a testament to the simple yet profound role of a bench in the tapestry of human
existence. From the craftsman’s touch to the countless souls who found solace in my embrace, I’ve
stood as a silent pillar of comfort in the ever-changing world of the park.
