The enterprise architecture model comprises of about five architectural core components
or elements namely:
In this assignment we are also going to look at the difference between Leavitt diamond
model and parson’s/Thompson’s model diagrammatically:
Q1. Governance/Architecture Management: Every enterprise should have a
dedicated team overseeing its architecture. (Danny Greefhorst, 2011) This team ensures
alignment with business goals and which identifies the planning, decision-making, and
oversight processes and groups that will determine how the EA is developed and
maintained, accomplished as part of an organization’s overall governance. For example,
in an organization like ZUT, the school administration (board of directors and the IT
team) may act as Governance because they are the ones responsible for decision making
and making sure that the school runs well.
Artifacts: The fourth core element is Artifacts which identifies the types and methods
of documentation to be used in each sub-architecture area, including strategic analyses,
business plans, internal controls, security controls, and models of workflow, databases,
systems, and networks. For example, this element may include the use of Google drive
and other cloud-based repository for storing this important documentation. (Marc
Langhorst, 2017)
Standards: Enterprise architecture standards define the rules, guidelines, and
conventions that govern the development and implementation of enterprise architecture
within an organization. (Excellence, 2023) These standards ensure consistency,
interoperability, and quality across different architectural domains and components. For
example, The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) publishes standards
such as ISO/IEC 42010, also IEEE. (ISO/IEC/IEEE, 2015).
