Pattern
Back
Cast on 78 (82) 86 sts with 1 strand of Malaga on a size 4.5 mm circular needle and work
ribbing * knit 1, purl 1 * until work measures 4 cm.
Change to the larger needles (US 8) and work in stockinette until the piece measures 14 (14
½) 15 inches.
Armholes: Bind off 4 sts on either side = 70 (74) 78 sts.
Place stitches on waste yarn and set aside to work the front piece.
Front
Cast on 78 (82) 86 sts with 1 strand of Malaga on a size 4.5 mm circular needle and work
ribbing * knit 1, purl 1 * until work measures 4 cm. Increase by one stitch on the last row of
ribbing = 79 (83) 87 stitches.
Place a marker around the center stitch.
Change to a size 5.0 mm circular needle.
Knit in stockinette for 3 inches before beginning the chart.
Knit with 1 skein of Malaga, 1 skein of the color called for in the chart and a second skein of
Malaga. Twist the strands around each other when changing colors.
Work the chart using the tapestry technique. Making sure to center the pattern across the
stitches.
Work until the piece measures 14 (14 ½) 15 inches.
Arms
CO 42 (44) 48 sts with 1 strand of Malaga on the smaller needle (US 7) and work in the rib
pattern *k1, p1* until the piece measures 1 ½ inches.
Change to the larger needles (US 8) and work in stockinette increasing as described:
Increase: Work 1 row, knit the bar between the stitches through the back loop, knit until there
is 1 stitch left, knit the bar between the stitches through the back loop, k1.
Repeat the increase row every 10 (8) 8 rows until there are 58 (62) 68 sts.
Knit evenly in stockinette until the work measures 19 inches.
Bind off 4 sts on each side = 50 (54) 60 sts.
Place stitches on waste yarn and set aside to work the second arm in the same manner.
Yoke
Join the blouse to work in the round on a size 5.0 circular needle: arm, front, arm, back =
241 (257) 277 sts. Join in the round.
Place a marker between each piece (back, front and arms) = 4 markers.
Continue in stockinette st
Work 2 rounds in stocking st to join the 4 parts.
Begin raglan shaping (decreases): k1, ssk, *k until there are 3 sts remaining before the
marker, k2tog, k2, ssk*, repeat *-* 2 times, k until there are 3 sts remaining on the row,
k2tog, k1 = 8 decreases= 233 (249) 269 sts.
Repeat decrease row on every other row until there are 89 (89) 97 sts remaining.
On the next row, decrease by 1 st = 88 (88) 96 sts.
Short Rows
Short Rows are worked across the back of the neck:
Row 1: knit to 1 st before front raglan seam on left sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Row 2: purl to 1 st before front raglan seam on right sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Row 3: knit to 1 st after back raglan seam on left sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Row 4: purl to 1 st after back raglan seam on right sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Row 5: knit to 1 st before back raglan seam on left sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Row 6: purl to 1 st before back raglan seam on right sleeve, turn using german short rows.
Neck
Change to the smaller needles (US7) and knit in rib pattern *k1, p1* until the edge measures
1 ½ inches. Bind off loosely.
Assembly
Sew the seam under the arms.
Sew arm and side seams together.
