1. What art form/artwork has changed something in your life? Why? Account for the
experience.- I think every artwork changes us in some way. But I guess music has
deeply moved me emotionally. It makes me think of many things and memories in my
life. It made me reminisce beautiful and dark past.
2. Does art always have a function? Why? Support your response. Provide your own
example.- For me art always have a function. It exist for many different reasons it
might be a lesson, an expression, an emotion or an inspiration and this makes art
functional. For example, an inspirational song can move people through emotion and
that’s how art function.
3. If an artwork ceased too have a function, will it remain an art? Why?- Yes, because art is
art whatever happens to it doesn’t change its function. If you cannot like art, it is still
an art to other people especially to the artist.

figures and colors. Mostly we cannot easily understand an abstract art because it has
nothing but continuous drips of paint or splotches of colors which confounds us.

1. What art form can you most relate to and appreciated? It may be architecture, sculpture,
painting, music, literature, film, dance, performance/theater, and living traditions. - I mostly
appreciate music and painting. I can connect to them emotionally. Sometimes when I
hear a song, it just suddenly brings so much feelings and emotions. And when I see
some painting, it makes me wonder what are the messages behind those beautiful
artwork.
2. Name an artist whose works you really like. - I like Vincent van Gogh and his works.
3. is there a particular work of art created by him or her that you relate to and appreciate/
what is it and why?- This artwork is his most popular work it is called “The Starry
Night”. I really appreciate it because for me the it shows hope amidst the challenges
or the darkness that we might face in life. It shows that there is light or hope in the
end, we must not give up in any trials and darkness we face in our journey.

5. Based on what you wrote, make an assumption about what the painting means.-
Paintings has many meanings and messages behind it. Those messages depends on
the viewers on how we perceived it. We can’t decide what other people see and
perceived because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

century, the artist paints highly complimentary portraits. They created more timeless
works that reflects hope, dreams and many emotions. They beautify their works
making each one of them appear more attractive. Some also encourages this age to
express their feelings more and be open to artwork.
2. How relevant still are the awards National Artist and GAMABA. Not only to the art world,
but also to the Filipino society as a whole?- These awards acknowledges the importance
of traditional folk artist. These awards also help conserve many folk artist and boost
other artist’s confidence.

you think are some of the considerations that must be addressed with regard to these?-
Artist and their works are important to a thriving, creative and innovative culture and
economy so they must be supported in any possible way.

1. Compare and contrast Greek and Roman artworks.- The artworks of Greeks reflects
freedom. They notably passionate about natural phenomenon and believes that nature
should be in great order thus this belief system, principles and ideologies become the
core of Greek art and architecture. While Roman artworks are stem, strong and harsh.
They also invoked the principles of realism highlighting the features of human beings
on their works.
2. Discuss how Mannerism art become an offshoot of works from the Renaissance. -
Mannerism was a product of Renaissance period. During this period, artist would
observe nature and try to emulate it. But as the Renaissance ended, artist started
copying subjects from existing arts which resulted to distorted figures, two-
dimensional spaces and discordant hues and colors, and lack of defined focal point.
3. Explain why Neoclassicism served as a response or reaction to the Baroque Period.- It
was a dominant art movement that aimed to revived and rekindle the influences of
Greek and Roman into art and architecture. It also veer away the extravagance style
and form of the Baroque Period.

and the numerous movements under it in the lives of men today?- During this time the turn
of art from traditional like paintings and sculpture to more experimental formats which
included film, photography, video, performance and earth works . This leads to
interesting and dynamic combination of concepts, subjects, materials, techniques and
methods of creation, experience and analysis. Compared to other periods, it can be
argued that contemporary art is the most socially aware and involved form of art.

2. Out of all the movements mentioned and discussed, what do you think are no longer
relevant nowadays?- I think most of the movements are still relevant to this day. We
can still see those kind of movements everywhere.

to derive meaning from art is the techniques of the medium, the context it was created
in, and the intent of the artist if known.

allows the artist to explore and think about how the audience can be a part of the work
in itself.
3. What is the reason why artists appropriate art?- Appropriation artists want the viewer
to recognize the images they copy. They hope that the viewer will bring all of his
original associations with the image to the artist's new context, be it a painting, a
sculpture, a collage, a combine, or an entire installation.
4. What are the two forms of forgery? Explain each. - Forgery and Aggravated Forgery –

these themes.- The art from China often has a central theme of nature, harmony and
balance that makes it an excellent example of the values that are held within the
country
2. In what ways are Chinese and Japanese art similar? In what ways are they different?-
Chinese art is known for its paper and silk paintings made by the brush soaked in
black or colored ink. On the other hand, Japanese art presents itself with a
number of varieties, such as sculpture made by wood and bronze, ancient pottery,
ink painting on silk and paper, oil painting, calligraphy etc.
3. What were some the uses or roles of art during the precolonial period?- Arts in this time
were for ritual purposes or everyday use only. As local communities were established,
art starts to go beyond mere craft, stone , weapons or jewelry but starts to have
decorative elements, meaning, and context.
4. How did art become a reflection of Philippine society? - The Philippines' arts depict a
society with a wide range of cultural influences and traditions. Malayans first came
into contact with traders who brought Chinese and Indian influences with them. A
educated elite emerged among the absorbed, who began to develop a contemporary
Filipino literary culture

-Art has been a part of human culture for many centuries. It has been used to express
emotions, to communicate ideas and it has been a way to pass down knowledge from
one generation to another. Art is important in our cultural and social lives because it
is the medium through which we process our emotions and ideas.
