I Objectives
Content Standard Demonstrates understanding of decimals.
Performance Standard To recognize and represent decimals in various forms and contexts.
Group 3
d) Ana has Php5.05 in her purse while Gina has Php5.50. Who
has the greater amount of money?
e) Today we will be comparing decimals and we will make the
amount of money in the problem to compare first.
Explore
a) Review on place value of decimals
b) What symbols are usually used in comparing numbers of different
values or the same values?
c) Consider the decimals 4.51 and 4.55. Here, the digits at tenths
place are the same, so move to the hundredths place and compare
numbers. 4.51 is less than 4.75.
4.51 _<_ 4.55
4.51 < 4.75
Practice these on the board
Explain
In your activity/ies, how did you compare and arrange the decimal
numbers? Answers related to right answer be accepted.

will win.
2) Time limit is only 5 minutes.
3) All groups will solve the equations below.
)3. A dog runs from one side of a park to the other. The park is 80.0 meters across.
The dog takes 16.0 seconds to cross the park. What is the speed of the dog?
Explain
In your activity, how did you solve for the speed? What have you
noticed on the unit used in answering for the speed?
I will show you a video about this lesson. Watch carefully.

Elaborate
In solving for the speed, it is very important to understand the
problem carefully what are given so that you can determine the
distance and the time for you to divide in order to get the speed.
Always remember also that the units in speed comprises the unit of
the distance used and the unit of the time used.

Using the worksheet answer this in 10 minutes.
1. A car travels 400 meter in 40 seconds. How fast is it going?
2. A conveyor can move mateials at a distance of 54 meters in 18
seconds. How fast does the conveyor move?
3 .If it takes 12 hours to cover 120 miles, how much is the speed?
Checking of answers is done by the teacher.
