Welcome  to  all  our  Netball  players  and  friends  from  across  
  Canada,  to  the  44th  Annual  National  Netball  Championships.    This  
  event  is  an  opportunity  to  re-­‐connect  with  other  Provincial  
  Netball  players,  to  showcase  skills,  which  everyone  has  worked  so  
  hard  to  perfect,  and  to  enjoy  friendly  competition.    It  is  also  an  
  opportunity  to  connect  w ith  other  Netball  enthusiasts  and  friends.    
  We  are  grateful  to  our  hosts,  BC  Netball  in  Vancouver,  for  
hosting  this  event,  and  hope  to  show  our  appreciation  with  the  
  best  of  the  best  competition.  
   
To  everyone  who  is  here  because  of  their  love  for  the  game,  
play  well  and  have  fun!

It  is  my  pleasure  to  extend  a  very  warm  British  Columbia  welcome  to  the  members  
of  the  Alberta,  and  Quebec  Netball  Associations.  The  netball  community  in  BC  would  like  
to  o ffer  you  our  friendship.  We  are  delighted  that  you  are  here.  Thank  you  for  traveling  
to  British  Columbia.  I  know  that  in  these  times  of  limited  financial  resources  you  are  
winners  just  to  be  here.    
I  would  also  like  to  welcome  our  friends  from  England  and  Jamaica  who  are  here  to  
officiate.  Their  expertise  and  knowledge  in  the  field  of  officiating  will  enrich  the  
experience  for  all  our  players.  
We  will  do  our  best  to  ensure  that  your  weekend  is  memorable  and  that  you  will  go  
home  w ith  fond  memories  of  your  stay  in  Burnaby.  I  hope  that  you  will  have  the  
opportunity  to  reunite  w ith  old  friends  and  make  new  ones.  
I  know  that  the  games  will  be  contested  in  the  spirit  of  fair  play  and  sportsmanship.  
We  will  witness  fine  skills  and  close  competitive  games.  I  hope  that  you  will  enjoy  
challenging  yourself  to  be  your  best.  
I  would  like  to  extend  my  sincere  thanks  to  the  tournament  committee  and  all  the  
helpers  w orking  this  w eekend.  Their  w illingness  to  volunteer  has  made  this  event  
possible.  Also  my  thanks  go  to  the  directors  of  Netball  BC  for  the  ongoing  work  and  
commitment  they  have  made  to  netball.

TOURNAMENT  RULES  
• The tournament will be played according to the rules as governed by IFNA.

• Each game will consist of 4 x 15 minute quarters with 3 minutes at the 1 and 3
quarter interval and 5 minutes at half time. There will be 30 minutes between
games.
• Teams must take to the court in a timely manner as games must start on time.

America’s  Federation  of  Netball  Associations  (AFNA)  Qualifying  Championships  in  
Barbados  August  20  –  September  3,  2018.
