Introduction
WaterproofTM by Wilhelmsen is a solution to help secure
safe, effective and compliant operations of critical
technical water systems onboard.

This document contains the information needed to get started using Waterproof, with focus on configuring
systems for a new vessel for the first time and registering test results.

New users and first time set-up

All new users need to go through a setup process before they can start using the application.

You will receive an email (sent from [email protected]) to the email added as the
1 user. This email contains a link to accepting the invitation and information about your organization ID.

Once you accept the invitation, you will be directed to https://waterproof.wilhelmsen.com/ to set a
2 new password.

Next time you login you will be asked to provide Organization ID for easier login. Your Organization
3 ID is included in the first email you recieved from [email protected].

Requirements and installation

The application does not require any installation or access to local systems. It is run as a web-application on
any computer with a supported browser and internet access. The application has been optimized to run on a
low bandwidth connection, but data might be hard to load if internet connection is very poor.

Optimal browser

Waterproof is optimized to work with the latest version of Chrome or Microsoft Edge. If you experience any
problems, please update the browser, or consider switching to one of the recommended browsers.

Getting started with Waterproof

By registering results of water testing you will get decision support and corrective actions to address and

potential issues onboard. The test results are aggregated to show development over time, and used on a

fleet level to identify vessels and systems that are at risk.

All limits and requirements for test frequency need to be configured in order for Waterproof to give the

correct feedback and help the onboard crew by offering corrective actions.

Key features to making the most out of Waterproof:

Report test results and

operations performed
See status and risks

Configure systems at a fleet level and

for a vessel analyze data to see

development over
Get feedback and
time
corrective actions based

on your configuration

We advice you to take the time to configure your vessels properly, in order to get the

most value out of your feedback and risk assesments.

04
Configuration of systems
In order to successfully configure systems the following information needs to be included:
1 All boiler and cooling systems
2 All sample points within each system
3 All parameters that are tested, and their limits and test frequency
4 All operations performed on the system

This information could have been preconfigured for your vessel.

Unsure if your vessel is preconfigured?

See the examples below to help clarify what is the case for your vessel.

Example: Systems have been configured Example: No systems configured

3A. If systems have been preconfigured

If the systems have already been configured it is important that you confirm that the system set-up correctly
reflects the set-up onboard.

Press Configuration from the menu and confirm that all boiler and cooling systems that you are
performing water tests on are added.
Press each system and confirm that all sample points are added with the correct test parameters, limits
and test frequency. For each system also confirm that all operations and products are added.

If any systems are missing or you need to update the configurations please follow the steps in the next
section “Configuring a new system”. Not all users have access to adding or updating system information. If
this is the case please contact your supervisor.

05
3B. Configure new systems

If your systems are not preconfigured, this section explains two ways in which you can configure

systems: One through checking the import from a previous version of Waterproof (3Ba) and one by

configuring a brand new system (3Bb).

3Ba: Import systems from existing configuration

If the vessel have used a previous version

of Waterproof you will get the option to

import system configurations from here.

Click “proceed” to see which systems are

imported.

If you want to add new systems after

configuring/skipping import of the old

systems, that can be done afterwards. See

1B for an explanation of how this is done.

You will see a list of all systems we found

from the existing solution. Read the

information on this page carefully and

choose either configure now to import this

system or skip

Selecting configure now will show all the

sample points (equipment), operations and

products dosed. Go through all of this

carefully. For more information on how to

add or update any information see 2b

below

Once you have gone through all systems

press “I’m happy with this setup. Let’s

import some data”. Read the information

carefully and press continue. Allow a few

minutes for the data to be imported and

refresh the page.

To start reporting measurements see

“Registering data and operations”.

06
3Bb: Set up new system

Whether there are other systems configured or not,

you will see a button for “Create new system”.

Select type of system and fill in the fields that

appear. Only change the recommendation scheme
if using non-Wilhelmsen Ships Service (unitor)
products. Add the products dosed on this system.
Then create system.

The grayed-out sample points that appear are the

minimum recommended samples for this system
type. To quickly add these press +Add, give the
sample point a name and then add. Leaving the
check box ticked will set it up with WSS
recommended parameters and limits.

For explanation of boiler sample point types,
see the schematic drawing on the next page.

Add or update sample parameters:

Press edit on the sample point to add test

parameters, update limits or test frequency. It is
important that all parameters tested for the given
sample is added here.

Add operations: Press +Add and give a name for

the location of the operations (e.g “port boiler”)

Update test frequency, or select “when needed”

When done press Finish configuration at the top of
the page. To start reporting measurements see
“Registering data and operations”.

You can edit all of the system information at any later

point. You can also save as a draft before finishing the
configuration.

Registering data and operations
Results of testing should be registered in Waterproof as soon as possible after they have been
done. See below for a step by step guide to registrering operations

Select the Data registration tab to start

registering test results and operations.

Find the system you want to register for, and

press Register data.

This will bring up the reporting log page where

you can see details of latest submitted test
results. Already submitted test results cannot be
edited. From here you can press +Create new
report and select the date the test was
performed.

There are two types of data you can register: All

test results are registered by pressing “Register
Samples” while operations such as blow down,
adding make-up water and product dosing are
entered by selecting “Register operations”.

Fill out the selected form. The content of the

form (including headers, parameters and limits)
are based on the configuration for the vessel.
When done, press Save.

If there are any corrective actions based on the

test results, they will appear on top of the
reporting log.

Press Done and confirm that you want to finish

the report to submit the results. Only do this
after you have added all test results and
operations for that day.

Repeat the process above to register data for

another system or date.
