A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN TEACHING ARTS FOR GRADE 2
Week No. 11 Date: November 27-30 December 1

I. Objectives
a. Describe the unique shapes, colors, texture and design of the skin coverings of
different fishes and other sea creatures from images.
b. Draw sea animals in their habitat showing their unique shapes and features with the
use of art materials.
c. Point out the contrast in the colors, shapes and textures between two or more
animals.
*Appreciate animal’s differences

Based on the given pictures, what did you
notice class? It’s not true sir.

Correct! They are not true because these


are combinations of 2 animals, but what
animals are those? They are sea animals

Very good! they are sea animals. So, what


do you think is our lesson for today? Our lesson for today is all about sea
animals.

about “Fishes and Other Sea Creatures”. “Fishes and Other Sea Creatures”.

3. Discussion
So, class, the pictures I’ve presented we’re
only some of the living things we see
underwater. Look at them carefully, what
can you say about the texture of their
bodies, Hanz? They differ on their texture Sir.

Correct! They differ on their texture


because those creatures aren’t had the
same body.

Those fish, starfish and other creatures are


commonly seen in paintings class (They look on the picture)

And in drawing or painting these animals,


we need to use different lines, shapes,
textures and colors
What can you notice on the coverings of
fishes and other sea creatures? Have you
seen any lines and curves? Yes Sir!

Correct! On their coverings we can see


different lines and curves and also, we can
see shapes on them but what is shape class? Shape is the form or appearance of the
outer edges that outline a figure or
something, Sir.

Thank you! And did you know class that


shapes can be geometric and organic. When
we say geometric shapes, it can be circles,
diamonds, ovals, rectangles, squares, stars
and triangles

Can you give me examples of creatures that


have these shapes, Lhayson? Star fish sir!

Very good! And we can also see these
shapes in human-made objects such as
machines, buildings, bridges and others, can

while organic shapes are those that you can
see in the nature. For example, the shapes

Now, let’s proceed to the texture, what is
texture? Texture is surface characteristics and
appearance of an object
Texture is what we feel when we touch an
object. Just like the fish and other sea
creatures body coverings. Some have
smooth, rough, hard, or soft body coverings.
And others have scaly, bony, spotted, shiny
or slimy body coverings. Did you get it class? Yes sir!

And you can see those unique


characteristics of fish and other sea
creatures in a painting.
So, what is painting class? Painting is the art of applying paint,
pigment or other mediums to a
drawing.
Painting is the art of applying paint, pigment

are also other mediums that are used in
painting, just like your water colors, acrylic,
poster or oil paints.

What are we going to use to apply the


different colors or the medium class?

Very good! And the drawing or painting can
be done on paper, canvas or fabric. Did you

And class, in painting we can express our


ideas, feelings and thoughts. It was by the
means of the colors or the textures that we
will use in our painting.

There are different examples of painting


class.
There are paintings that we can achieve by
using dots which is called pointillism. Class,
can you use your fingers to point dots in the
air? Yes Sir!

Then, let’s do it class, use our fingers to

Very good! that’s pointillism.


And there are also paintings that can
achieve by using lines which is called
hatching. So, let’s use again our fingers in
making lines in the air.

And the texture class, you can achieve your
desired texture of your artwork using
different coloring and painting techniques
such as etching, blending, and crayon resist.
And when we say blending class, it is like
what you did in your previous lesson about
secondary colors, you need to mix two
primary colors in order to create a new
which is the secondary color.
