Section 3. Semi-Final Round

3.1. Top 10 teams from the Elimination Round will proceed to the Semi-final Round.

3.2. The Semi-final Round will have a classic, board-type quiz bee format.

3.3. The questions will be divided into three categories: Easy, Average, and Difficult.

3.3.1. Ten (10) questions fall under Easy, each worth ten (10) points.

3.3.2. Ten (10) questions fall under Average, each worth fifteen (15) points.

3.3.3. Ten (10) questions fall under Difficult, each worth twenty (20) points.

3.4. Each question will be flashed on screen and read twice. Teams can only start writing their answers
once the quizmaster gives the ‘go’ signal. Teams shall be given a duration of ten (10) seconds to answer
Easy questions, fifteen (15) seconds to answer Average questions, and twenty (20) seconds to answer
Difficult questions. Problem-solving questions will be allotted twenty (20) seconds, thirty (30) seconds,
and sixty (60) seconds for the Easy, Average, and Difficult rounds respectively. Teams should raise their
boards up when the quiz master announces, “Time’s up!” Failure to do so merit a wrong answer/no
answer.

3.5. All teams are given three special powers or “mutations” at the start of the Semi-final Round which
can only be used once per round. Only one (1) mutation can be used for one question which should be
attached to the white boards provided within the time allotted to answer a particular question.

3.5.1. Duplication: copy the answer of any opposing team. Team using this mutation should
indicate the name of the team whose answer they intend to copy along within the time allotted
to answer the question. Points will only be given if the copied answer is the correct answer.

3.5.2. Point Mutation: Double the point of one question. Points will only be given if the team’s
answer is the correct answer.

3.5.3. Deletion: Void the answer of any opposing team. Team using this mutation should indicate
the number of the team whose answer they intend to nullify within the time allotted to answer
the question.

3.6. Protests over an item will only be entertained after the answers are given and before the next
question is asked. Appeals made outside this time frame (i.e. when the next question has been asked)
will not be entertained.

3.7. The four (4) teams with the highest scores will proceed to the Final Round.

3.8. In case of a tie, a Clincher Round (Section 5) will be given to settle the tie for a slot in the Final
Round.

Section 4. Final Round

4.1. The Final Round will be a Jeopardy-type round, however teams will not be required give their
answers in question form. Each team will have their scores reset back to zero (0).

4.2. The matrix is composed of six categories with varying difficulties and points. The highest-scoring
team from the Semi-Final Round will be the first to choose the question.
Senior High School Department
4.3. Teams will each be given a buzzer which they should ring whenever they intend to answer the
question. First team to buzz will be given the chance to answer. Corresponding points will be awarded for
correct answers whereas the same corresponding points will be deducted for wrong answers or if the
teams that buzzed in are unable to give an answer within the allotted time. Teams who answer correctly
will choose the next question.

4.4. All throughout the Final Round, teams will be facing the projector and will not be allowed to look at
the audience while the quizmaster is reading aloud.

4.5. Questions will only be read twice. Teams may ring the buzzer as the quizmaster reads the question.
If the first team buzzes in while the quizmaster is still reading the question, the quizmaster will stop
reading the question and the first team to buzz will be given five seconds to answer. If no team rings the
buzzer five seconds after the second reading, a new question will be asked from a category chosen by
the quiz master.

4.6. If the first team to buzz fails to answer the question correctly, the other teams will have the
opportunity to steal. The first team to buzz among the remaining three teams will be given five seconds
to answer. In case of another wrong answer, corresponding points will be deducted from the team and a
new question will be asked from a category chosen by the quiz master.

4.6.1. If the first team buzzed in while the quizmaster was reading the question, the quizmaster
will resume reading the question from the point where he/she was cut off. The other teams may
buzz in to steal when the quizmaster resumes reading the question.

4.7. After clearing the matrix, the members of the top three scoring teams will be awarded.

4.8. In case of a tie, the tied teams will be competing in a Clincher Round (Section 5).

Section 5. Clincher Round

5.1. The Clincher Round will follow a sudden-death quiz bee format.

5.2. After the quizmaster reads the question twice, participants are given 10 seconds to answer the
question.

5.3. Questions will be asked until at least one team can answer correctly.

5.4. Those who will fail to answer the question correctly or to raise the board after the time limit will be
eliminated.

AMAZING RACE

This activity aims to evaluate the participants’ grasp of Mathematical and Scientific
skills/techniques and their ability to solve problems. In addition, this competition will require teamwork,
time management, and critical thinking.

Section 1. Participants

1.1. All four members of the team will be required to participate in the Amazing Race.

1.2. Each team will be assigned an NPC, a student of the STEM who will accompany and guide the
participants throughout the different locations of the campus. The NPC will not help the team in
formulating the strategy nor in completing the stations. NPC will only guide the team in navigating
through the campus and will serve as the team’s timekeeper.

Section 2. Objective

2.1. The Amazing Race is composed of a series of stations in different location within the World Citi
Colleges Antipolo Campus. Each station will have a challenge or an activity and by participating, the
teams can earn points.

2.2. The amount of points that a team will get in a station will be based on the team’s performance in
that station. Since each station will have a different challenge, each will follow a unique rubric in
determining the number of points that the team will get based on its performance. The maximum
amount of points that a team can garner from a station may vary from another depending on the
difficulty of the task to be accomplished in that station.

2.3. The teams will have three (3) hours to accumulate as many points as they can in the Amazing Race.
Team rankings will be based on the number of points accumulated. The teams do not need to visit and
complete all of the stations.

2.4. If there will be teams with an equal number of points, the team who finished with the highest
combined points in the Difficult and Average Stations earlier shall be given the higher ranking.

Section 3. Station Card

3.1. Each team will be provided with a Station Card that contains a list of the stations within the campus.
This will also serve as their checklist and their record to help them keep track of their progress in the
competition.

3.2. After the completion of each station, the timestamp and the number of points must be recorded by
the station manager in the team’s Station Card.

Section 4. Special Stations

4.1. Rest station: The rest stations will provide water and snacks for the participants. Can only be visited
once they finished 10th station.
