HUMANITIES
• study of the different cultural aspects of
man, his frailties in life, and how these
can be improved
• came from the Latin word “humanus”
which means, human, cultured and
refined
• To be human is to show characteristics
of rationality, benevolence and care;
to be cultured and refined is to show
good tastes and manners indicative of
good, proper education.
WHY STUDY HUMANITIES?
• Through Humanities, we can be connected to places we
have not visited, understand the past or history which has
significance to the present. It makes us encounter great
minds and hearts of human history.

• Through Humanities, we gain a global perspective through


the knowledge of world cultures.

• Through Humanities, we will be able to build up your


career, focus our life, minimize frustration, and most
importantly, be able to work as part of an effective team.
NATURE OF ARTS
ARTS
AR (Aryan root) = to join or to put together
ARS (Latin term) = means art, skill, or craft
• one of the oldest and most important means of
expression developed by man.

• refers to the skillful arrangement or composition of


some common but significant qualities of nature
such as sounds, colors, lines, movements, words,
stone, and wood to express feelings, thoughts,
imaginations, and dreams in an amazing meaningful
and enjoyable way (Adams, 2002).

OF ART WORK
1. VISUAL ARTS
- these art works are perceived by our eyes
which may classified into

A. GRAPHIC ARTS
B. PLASTIC ARTS

GRAPHIC ARTS
- they have flat two-dimensional surface such
as painting, drawing, photography and other
products of the printing industry
VISUAL ARTS

PLASTIC ARTS
- three-dimensional forms. Under the groupings are
architectural designs, construction of buildings/structures;
landscape, of gardens, parks, playgrounds, interior design,
sculptures stones, woods, clay, metal or ivory.
2. PERFORMING ARTS
- involves movement, speaking and gestures.
- these include the theater, play, dance and music.
3. LITERARY ARTS
- these include the short stories, novels, poetry
and dramas
4. POPULAR ARTS
- These include film, newspaper, magazine, radio
and television. This group is characterized as
gay and lively.
5. GUSTATORY ARTS OF
THE CUISINE
- This involves skill in food preparation.
6. DECORATIVE ARTS
- They are visual objects produced for beautifying
houses, offices, cars, and other structure

pianist, violinist, flutist, harper,
trumpeter, bugler, and drummer.
- He may be a music leader bandmaster,
choirmaster, concertmaster, or song
leader.

diva. He may be a vocalist or
soloist.
