Abortion Should Be Banned

When we hear the word abortion, there are so many opinions coming from different points of view, it is
a very controversial topic that can be looked in so many perspectives depending on the situation, I took
the time to take different opinions on different people, male and female and will place all these opinions
and discuss them.
It is inhuman not to legalize the "therapeutic abortion" that should be performed when the pregnancy
puts the woman in danger of death or serious and permanent illness.
In this case the term "therapeutic" is used in order to confuse. "therapy" means to cure and in this case,
abortion does not cure anything. Currently, medical science guarantees that there are practically no
circumstances in which one must choose between the life of the mother or the life of the child. That
conflict belongs to the history of obstetrics. As early as 1951, the American College Congress of Surgeons
said that "everyone who performs a therapeutic abortion is either ignorant of or unwilling to take the
time to use modern methods of treating complications of pregnancy." The dreaded case of "ectopic"
pregnancies or those that progress outside the maternal uterus are being medically managed with
increasing ease. On the other hand, the code of medical ethics states that in the case of pregnancy
complications, proportionate efforts must be made to save mother and child and never have the
premeditated death of one of them as a way out.
Opinion 1: “Abortion should be regulated, there needs to be an investigation for the person and the
reason they have for taking the decision of getting an abortion, I am not pro-abortion since you are big
enough to make it you can also bring it to this world, abortion should not be just for evading having a
hard time.” Edward, 2023
In this case we have a situation in which we have a con-abortion person that encourages the situation by
adding investigation to the education and making it accessible by certain conditions.
It is brutal and inhumane to allow a woman to have a child as a result of rape, therefore, in these cases,
the so-called "sentimental" abortion should be legalized.
Pregnancies following rape are extremely rare in the first place. In the United States, for example, rape is
a serious problem, approximately 78,000 cases were reported in 1982.
Almost, 40% to 80% of rapes go unreported.
In these cases, pregnancies are extraordinarily rare, for various reasons. For example, sexual dysfunction
in rapists, whose rate is extremely high. Three studies have found that 39, 48 and 54% of the women
victims of the attack had not been exposed to sperm during the rape.
In another study it was found that 51% of rapists experienced dysfunctions that did not allow them to
finish the sexual act. Another cause for which rape pregnancies are extremely rare: total or temporary
infertility of the victim. The victim may be naturally sterile; she may be very young or very old, she may
already be pregnant, or there may be other natural reasons.
43% of the victims were in these categories. The victim may be taking contraceptives, have an IUD or
have her tubes tied, 20% fell into this category. Thus, only a minority of victims have fertility potential. In
addition to natural infertility, some victims are protected from pregnancy by what has been called
pregnancy stress.
infertility; a form of temporary infertility as a reaction to extreme stress.
The menstrual cycle, controlled by hormones, is easily distorted by emotional stress and can act by
delaying ovulation; or if the woman has already ovulated, menstruation may occur prematurely. One
study determined that only 0.6% of pregnancies were recorded in 2,190 rape victims.
In a series of 3,500 rape cases over 10 years at St. Paul's Hospital in Minneapolis, not a single case of
pregnancy could occur. Seeking legislation based on an exception rather than a rule is totally irrational
from the point of view legal. It is obvious that the heinous crime of rape is used to sensitize the public in
favor of abortion, by presenting the innocent offspring of possible brutal conception as an aggressor. It is
clear that the woman has suffered a frightful first attack, that of rape. Presenting abortion as a "solution"
is to say that one poison must be combated by applying another.
Opinion 2: “Abortion should be considered an option if you are being responsible with your
contraceptives and they fail you, there should be an investigation about why you are requesting an
abortion, but it should be illegal to make kids have babies coming from a rape” Daniel, 2023
In this case we have a different opinion including rape in the equation as my personal opinion it is cruel
and inhumane to make a kid have a baby when they are still kids and this baby is product of a rape, for
example in my home country there was a rape to an 8 year old girl, she was obligated by the government
and her parents to deliver the baby, in the labor the kid encountered complications that risked her life,
this types of situations could be avoided if the pregnancy was interrupted at the moment they realized
the girl was pregnant with her uncles baby.
It is necessary to eliminate a child with disabilities because he will suffer a lot and will cause suffering
and expenses to the parents.
This principle, known as "eugenic abortion," is based on the false postulate that "the beautiful and
healthy" are the ones who should establish the value criteria of when a life is worth or not. With that
criterion, we would have sufficient reason to kill the handicapped already born.
On the other hand, scientifically, prenatal tests are not 100% sure to determine malformations or
defects. For example, in the case of rubella, reviewing 15 important studies, it was found that only 16.5%
of babies would have defects.
It means that abortion due to rubella will kill 5 perfectly healthy babies for every affected baby.
Finally, who can say that the disabled do not want to live? One of the most impressive anti-abortion
demonstrations in the US state of California was carried out by a large group of handicapped people
gathered under a large banner: "Thank you mom because you didn't abort me."
In conclusion we could say there are several situations in which people can be pro-abortion or con-
abortion this subject is very controversial since there are ways that abortion needs to be practiced and
there are other ways that are no excuse for ending a life.
