Business Plan for Small Scale Mining in Sierra Leone
DIAMOND AND GOLD MINING PROJECT IN SIERRA LEONE
[pic]
GENERAL
For the last 2 years our company has been closely following the Sierra Leanean diamond
Industry if we can call it that. Sierra Leone is a small country in West Africa mainly
known because of the bloody and vicious civill war which ended about 3 years ago. I
have visited this country a few times each time for a period of 1 month or more. During
those vistts I tried to familiarize myself with the diamond and gold mining industry.
During those visits I have been in Freetown (the capital of Sierra Leone) in which I
successfully dealt with all the necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

LICENCES. [pic]
We were put in contact by the mines ministry people with the (Paramount Chief) of
Kamakwie area. The chief seems to be a faily decent person, more reliable than most
locals. He is a relatively educated person and easy to deal with. After the initial meeting
in Freetown we drove the company jeep to Kamakwie to close the deal. We spent in
Kamakwie around 3 weeks during which we got an initial tour of the area, decided on
the first site, signed the contract and started testing the site. Anexed is the the contact for
the site, signed with the chief (ih handwriting). This contract together with my local
resident Visa/work permit which II have aqquired in Freetown (see annexed), and the
company papers is almost enough for us to practice mining in Kamakwie. The single
additional document needed, is a local licence from the mining ministry branch nearest to
Kamakwie (Makenny). At the time I am writing this Document, the licence is ready and
waiting for me upon my return. One very important obstacle we overcame in kamakwie
is the residence place. As mentioned before this is a very bacward place with no
electricity , running water, communication (no cellphone reception)

A1 Renaissance
The Renaissance period began in Italy around 1300 and spread throughout Europe
during the 1400 and 1500 s. This period signified the beginning path to incredible
change in customs, ways of life and institutions that had existed in Europe for almost a
thousand years. Many of the new ideas of this period still influence our lives today.
The beginning of this period the European countryside was broken up into large estates
owned by the wealthy nobles. Most people were peasants, who worked the land for the
noble owners. All parts of life centered around religion mainly the Catholic Church which
was very powerful. Throughout the Renaissance, the ... Show more content on

The Third ideal that helped create the Baroque style was a counter reformation of religion.
Baroque churches were dramatic creations for this movement.
Baroque painting contained dramatic details, large in scale and was full of energy. This
style was intentionally non symmetrical. The painters of this time were looking to
capture the real feelings of their subjects along with the movement or action taking place.
Sculpture of this period again was to create a sense of movement. The sculptures took
into consideration the spaces created by the sculpture not just the piece itself.
Music of the baroque period was considered very complex and similar to the other
forms of art of this time. Additional brass, woodwind and string instruments had been
created to add additional depth to the works of this time. Composers of this time
attempted to give voices to their works and invoke emotions. The works were created to
tell a story.
Baroque painters included Caravaggio, Rubens and Rembrandt. Rembrandt s self
portraits exemplified this style with the emotions created in the depth and emotion of
his eyes. Bernini was a famous sculptor re creating David. Composers of this period
included Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. Handel s Messiah is a wonderful example of the
music of this time. It is still popular today at Christmas. (The Basics of Art: The Baroque
Period. 2010)

George Orwell Imperialism
In George Orwell s Shooting an Elephant, Orwell recounts his own experiences as a sub
divisional police officer in Moulmein, which was a town colonized by the British Empire
in Burma during the early ninetieth century. Orwell reveals the fact that he is being
detested by much of the village because he is an English occupier. Orwell begins to
understand the existence of British imperialism through a must elephant who has gone
mad, killing people and destroying the village. In this decisive moment of the story,
Orwell shows the reality of colonialism by illustrating the fact that British imperialism
limits their freedom to maintain their grip on authority. Orwell then is compelled to
entrench himself further in barbarism because of the... Show more content on

In malice of his coherent argument, he cannot withstand the actions that the roles
force him to make to display his power beyond the convention them themselves,
Orwell lustrates: I perceived at this moment that when the white man turns tyrant it is
his own freedom that he destroys (312). This quote illustrates Orwell imperialism take
Orwell freedom by forcing him to specify things he does want to. Orwell fears of
humiliation symbolizes the motives of the border British colonial project: the crown
would laugh at me. And my whole life, every white man s life in the East, was one long
struggle not to be laughed at (312). Orwell no choice but to sacrifice his sense by
fulfilling the roles of oppressors and tyranny, to save face. However, Orwell s feeling for
his works and his position Burma make him opposed British empire he himself embodies

empire I served and my rage against the evil spirited little beasts who tried to make my
job impossible (308). This quote shows the fact Orwell feels so tired of the job he does,
and he wishes the empire to crash fair as far, if not more than the Burmese. Orwell
reveals his inner conflict by illustrating the fact that British imperialism has dehumanized
him just like Burmese
Cake Decorating Papers
From the time 19 year old Ashley was assigned an independent study and she took the
Wilton cake decorating classes, Ashley knew she had found a new love. Her ability to
create roses in any color she wanted, to use a piping transfer sheet to make an intricate
design on a cake, and to fill cupcakes with chocolate ganache allowed her to feel a sense
of control and like she was a true artist. So what exactly is cakedecorating? It is a form of
art that uses all different types of designs and decorations to take a basic cake and
make it look more intricate and hopefully more beautiful. Over the past 10 years, cake
decorating products have become more accessible to the general public, making it easier
for the at home worker to achieve success... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ashley has heard about this and did her research. She found out a lot about how
classes were therapeutic to regular people, but how cake decorating has been known
to help celebrities and prisoners as well. Gabrielle Fantelli talks about the benefits of
baking therapy in her article and claims, Kneading a batch of bread dough for 10/15
minutes will sure take away a lot of frustration and negative feeling, the weighing of
the ingredients, the repetitive motions and the feeling of being in control could help
keep calm and level up unruly anxiety feelings (para 2). She is acknowledging here
that many components of baking can help get out a lot of negative emotions and free
someone of a negative mentality or disposition. In Helen Razer s article, grandma
Eileen Scriven expresses that It s just a beautiful medium. I relax by making my
flowers and such at night. I have four daughters and eight grandchildren, and one little
one with autistic features. We have a battle. But I have my cake decorating (1). What
she has expressed is that making the delicate parts of a decorated cake can be relaxing,
and can be a get away from family stressors something that is appealing to Ashley since
she often has troubles at home. But what really inspires Ashley is the testimonies of
celebrities in the cake decorating world who have found it therapeutic. John Whaite
declares Baking helps lift my depression. It can t cure it but it helps, (qtd. In Dawood
(para 2 and 3). In need of background information, Dawood comments that eight years
ago, he was diagnosed with manic depression. Whaite himself elaborates When I m in
the kitchen, measuring the amount of sugar, flour or butter I need for a recipe or
cracking the exact number of eggs I am in control. That s really important as a key
element of my condition is a feeling of no control (qtd. In Dawood para 5). Ashley finds

Baroque Period Of Time
I stare up into the sky and wonder when my time will come. As I near the end of this
life, I look back on the world I used to know. My final lesson will be one of memory as
I tell you of the old world that existed during the Baroque period of time. Their world
differed greatly from ours . Today we have machines to do our work for us, but in their
world they did not. Instead, they had to cast aside slothfulness and put their bodies to
good use. If you truly want to know what their world was like, then pay attention as we
fly to the pastand observe their architecture, reenact their plays, and let our ears fall in
love with their music. To start us off, know this: they built things. Not like our dull
capitol buildings or our skyscrapers that cut into the sky. No, instead they crafted some
of the grandest of places. They made halls that could hold more than five hundred men.
They created mansions that put our modern houses to shame. They designed palaces
that acted as bases for the powers that presided over the kingdom. The main piece of
architecture that you will find in this period is the church. Cathedrals, monasteries, and
temples were very famous in that world. Today, we do not see a lot of churches being
built. Instead we waste precious resources on useless buildings that do nothing but
destroy the surrounding nature. In the end, the construction workers of the past were
very skilled and often worked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the old world, music was also a form of entertainment and relaxation. Their music,
however, is quite opposite from ours today. Our music is often fast and has many beats,
their music was often slow and sometimes it sounded like one continuous note that
changed pitch. Our music is fiery and passionate, while theirs is flowing and
submissive. Our music is danceable, their music can put someone to sleep very easily.
Baroque music is a wonderful part of that period because it allowed the people to express
themselves like we do
