Good afternoon,
As outlined in the enclosed statement from Jacob Conner, he is resigning from his position
as Athletic Director and Coach for Irion County ISD. Although Jacob Conner will separate
officially from Irion County ISD on June 30, 2024, he has stepped aside from his official
duties effective immediately.
The Board of Trustees expresses its appreciation to Jacob Conner for his efforts while
serving as a coach and Athletic Director of this great school district and its wonderful
students, parents and administrators.
The Board and Superintendent extend its best wishes to Jacob Conner in his future
endeavors. On our part, I have named John Morrow as the Interim Athletic Director to
complete the 2023-2024 school year. Beginning in the spring semester, the district will be
looking for a regular ongoing athletic director replacement.
I need you to print and mail letters home to all students in athletics - except Major Conner.
If you can't make a mail label list, ask Nell and she should.
This needs to go out ASAP!
Thank you for all your help!

General Question:
I have been informed that there is an ongoing investigation. I cannot comment on it or what it is
about.
Doubters:
I have been informed that there’s an ongoing investigation. I cannot comment on it or what it is
about. Dr. Moore has assured the board that she would only be moving forward with an
investigation if she had a valid concern that was supported by documentation and is doing what is
best for students.
Conner himself:
You have been directed to not contact any school, staff, parents, students, or board members. I
cannot comment or discuss the allegations or the investigation.
(Then please contact me)
Thank you,
Nikki Moore
COACH JACOB CONNER PRESS RELEASE
The District has decided to go in a different direction with the Irion County Athletic
Program that includes a change in my position as Athletic Director and Head Girls
Basketball Coach. As a result, I will resign from my current position effective June 30,
2024. To help facilitate the transition, I feel it is in the best interest of our coaches and
athletes to step aside at this time so the District can focus on finding my replacement.
I am honored to have been a part of the great staff at Irion County ISD and have enjoyed
working with these fantastic teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators these past
twelve years. They are a tremendous group who truly do great things for our students each
day and epitomize everything that is right with public education.
I have been able to work with an awesome group of coaches during my time at Irion County
and we are all very proud of our athletic accomplishments. These accomplishments would
not have been possible without what I believe are the finest student-athletes in the state of
Texas. These young men and women are the reason we coach, and it is our hope that we
have left them with a positive legacy and have prepared them for a great future. Our goal
has always been that when the student-athletes graduate and leave our programs, each of
them will be a better person for having been with us.
I also appreciate the Irion County community for all of their support. Irion County ISD is
a special place, and I will take with me many fond memories.
Irion County ISD
It’s a Great Day to be a Hornet!
Irion County ISD is committed to keeping our parents and community informed regarding all
matters that have implications for the safety and wellbeing of our students. I recently received
a complaint on a coach/teacher/staff member, which the administration is in the process of
investigating. As is standard during a pending investigation, this staff member has been placed
on administrative leave as of November 13, 2023. Because of privacy concerns, I will not be
providing any further details about the nature of the allegations or the investigation at this
time. I understand this leaves a void that many will be tempted to fill with gossip and
speculation. I encourage everyone to be patient and not spread uninformed speculation
through the community.
I want to assure parents that the safety and wellbeing of our students is the District’s highest
priority. I am committed to completing the investigation and taking any steps that may be
warranted as a result. If you believe you or your student has relevant information to share,
please contact my office.
