Television Series/Season
Television Series/Season is usually periodic and fragmentary with a fixed duration of only a few episodes to many seasons.
= discontinuous/episodic.
A television series/season is a presentation of a finite number of episodes that is intended to air. The series/season usually
consists of 6 to 26 episodes. A run of a finite number of episodes lasting less than a year; in In US calls a season; in UK calls this a
series.
US Usage: In the US, these sets of episodes are referred to as a season. US industry practices tends longer seasons than those of
some other countries. A new series is often commenced for just the first 10 to 13 episodes, to gauge the audience interest. If it is
"picked up", the season is completed to the regular 20 to 26 episodes. In US, one-hour usually lasts 44 minutes and half-hour
lasts 22 minutes.
UK and Commonwealth Countries Usage: In the UK, Australia and other countries, these sets of episodes are referred to as
a series. A series usually have 13 to 20 episodes. The one-hour usually lasts 50 minutes and half-hour lasts 25 minutes.
Japanese Usage: Japan has a three-month period of Television Series/Season or kūru in Japanese language usually of 13
episodes of one-hour duration.
Miniseries in US: In the United States, most regular television series have 22 episodes per year. In general, dramas usually last
44 minutes (an hour with advertisements), while comedies last 22 (half hour with advertisements).
Miniseries in UK: In the UK, the term "miniseries" is only usually used in references to imported programmes, and “local”
miniseries are usually called "serials" there.
Miniseries in Cable Networks: With the rise of cable networks, especially pay ones, series and episode lengths have been
changing. Cable networks usually feature series lasting 13 episodes.
Special/Special Programme
A one-off broadcast may be called a "special".
Television Movie
A Tele-film, television movie, made-for-TV movie, is a film that is initially aired on television rather than being released in
theaters or direct-to-video.
Instructional/Educational or Entertaining
It may be primarily instructional/educational, as in the case of learning programming, or entertaining, as is the case in situation
drama, comedy, reality TV, and TV shows, or for income generating as advertisements.
