https://www.thesource.org/post/10-myths-we-believed-about-sex

Synopsis:
This article talks about the myths and false beliefs that exist about sex. It states that our first
approach to sex occurs during we are teenagers, when for example a friend tells us about it, we
see it in a movie, or when an adult tells us about it too and this results in what we know ends up
being a half-truth. The article discusses the myths that many people believe, for example, that
during sex you burn a lot of calories, it is believed that during sex you burn around 3500 calories
in 30 minutes, which is false, it is estimated that having sex for 30 minutes only burns about 85
to 150 calories. Another myth is that it is not possible to get pregnant during the period. It states
that although it is unlikely, there is a possibility that a sperm can stay alive for 5 days, and when
the woman's period ends, this sperm could join the egg. These myths are disproved with answers
that are based on science, so there is no fault. At the end of the article, couples are encouraged to
be sexually responsible, so that they can be safe from STDs and unwanted pregnancies, and to
educate themselves sexually in the same way.

Synopsis:
Sexual problems such as HIV and STIs are very common in Africa since the topic of sex is
taboo, which leads to myths and misconceptions developing. The researchers in this investigation
found that this is due to two things: ambiguities about sexual health, which would be the myths
that are built through a lack of information. And to the practical dilemmas in serving clients,
referring to the fact that religious leaders and people with the capacity to provide sexual
education do not do so due to greater causes. They concluded that because people do not have
any sexual education, it is difficult for health care providers to provide health care as it should.
Comments:
In my opinion, sex education is a crucial topic for our sexual health, as it prevents us from
believing in myths and misconceptions that can affect our health, so it is important to be
informed so that we can get to know our bodies.

Synopsis:
This article talks about the consumption of cannabis by athletes and how it influences their
performance when practicing their sport. The article explains that most athletes use cannabis
recreationally because it is not allowed in sports organizations, but there is a minority who do
use cannabis for their benefit. These athletes argue that the use of cannabis helps them to reduce
the anxiety, nausea, and pain that their sport can cause them. Even so, there are studies that
reveal that athletes who use cannabis before practice tend to get tired faster than normal, so their
performance is lower. In conclusion, the use of cannabis in the world of sports remains uncertain
to this day.

Synopsis:
This academic journal analyzes alcohol and cannabis use among college athletes. They analyze
the reasons and, in response, find that, due to the pressure on athletes to balance their lives as
athletes and students, as well as social pressure, they are forced to resort to substance use. This
often has bad consequences, such as athletes being late for their games or not performing as well
as they should. In conclusion, it is noted that motives and consequences tend to vary depending
on various factors such as race, gender, division level, seasonal status, etc.
Comments:
Since I was a kid, I have always played baseball, so I know the pressure that athletes refer to, and
the truth is that sometimes it is difficult to keep a balance in everything, but nevertheless I have
never reached the point of consuming substances, but I can understand the reason for their use. I
also have friends who use cannabis, and I can affirm that their performance is not the same when
it comes to playing, so I agree on that with the research.

adolescents, particularly in those who already showed symptoms of problems such as depression,
anxiety, stress, among others. Through questionnaires conducted during the first and second
lockdown, it was found that emotional and behavioral problems during the pandemic did not

highlighted the great resilience of the adolescents, both those who had symptoms before and
those who did not, as they showed a great capacity to overcome the pandemic, since they did not
show any deterioration in their mental health.

Comments:
In my opinion, mental health is an especially important issue because thanks to it we can be well
with ourselves as well as with others, besides, it helps us to have a better life and I agree with the
idea presented in the articles that it is necessary to take care of our mental health

Synopsis:
This article discusses steroids, their benefits, side effects and risks. In this article it is stated that
thanks to them, those who take them obtain benefits such as increased muscle mass, strength and
speed, faster recovery from injuries and exercises, etc. This may explain why top athletes tend to
use steroids for better performance. And likewise, it explains the risks of their use, which have to
do mostly with damage to organs such as the heart and kidneys, which can lead to death, and
with changes in their appearance. In addition, it talks about the fact that steroids are illegal in
most countries. As a conclusion, it is pointed out that the use of steroids is a serious decision, as
it can have very good benefits but also very bad consequences.

Synopsis:
This research focuses on the case of a 31-year-old male bodybuilder who, due to steroid use and
abuse, suffers from cardiovascular and respiratory problems. For 6 months he was consuming
high doses of testosterone every week, which ended up with the man suffering from problems
such as heart failure, cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and acute respiratory distress requiring
mechanical ventilation. Eventually, with the proper treatment, the situation was stabilized and
did not escalate. In the end, the researchers suggest we consider the use of steroids since they can
bring several problems to our health.

Comments:
What I think about steroids is that it is not worth using them, they bring more problems than
benefits. Their benefits will end one day while the problems will continue. But I understand the
athletes who use them to recover from their injuries, in that case, it is acceptable to me if it is
with a measured dose.

In my opinion, I believe that love does benefit you in many aspects of your health, in my case, I
can affirm that I feel that having a girlfriend does help me feel better, and in the same way when
we are fighting and I haven't seen her for a long time I don't feel as good.

human dignity. It says that when we set standards for cloning, we have to strike a balance
between the good things it might do and the ethical problems that may exist. The article
concludes by stating that we must have open and thoughtful discussions about cloning as it
progresses, taking into account science, ethics, philosophy and the standards we set, while still
respecting human values.

of human reproduction. It highlights the debates surrounding cloning, including arguments
related to family relationships, control, social consequences, and the potential for improving the

Comments:
I believe that cloning and its ethical dilemmas raise complex moral issues related to the creation
of life, individual identity and human dignity. It is important to approach these ethical dilemmas
with great caution and we should carefully consider the implications and consequences before
moving forward in this area of science and technology.

Synopsis:
This study investigated the relationship between coffee consumption and bone health in Korean
postmenopausal women. The researchers found that postmenopausal women who consumed
moderate amounts of coffee had a 36% lower risk of osteoporosis compared to those who
consumed the least coffee. This trend was consistent for different bone regions. Furthermore,
greater coffee consumption was linked to increased bone mineral density in the femoral neck and
lumbar spine. The study suggests that moderate coffee consumption may have a good effect on
bone health in this population, but more research is needed.

Comments:
I'm a big fan of coffee, I drink it very often but not every day, and I don't drink more than a cup.
My mom is even more of a fan, to the point that she is already addicted, because if she doesn't
drink it, she feels terrible. For this reason, I agree that it is important to drink coffee but in
moderation and not too much because it can cause difficulties for you.

Synopsis:
This article discusses the positive and negative effects of social media on mental health.
Excessive use of social networks is associated with depression, anxiety, feelings of isolation and
sleep disorders. Cyberbullying is a problem that is also present, and the constant fear of missing
out can affect self-esteem. However, social networks also serve to connect communities, raise
awareness and support groups. Finally, the article says that to get rid of the negative effects,
people can limit their use of social networks, remove notifications and be aware of how much
time they spend on social networks.

Synopsis:
This study investigated the impact of social network use on the mental health of young adults.
The researchers aimed to address the concern of whether social networking could negatively
influence real-life social interactions, leading to isolation, decreased empathy, and mental health
problems such as suicidal ideation. The study concluded that social network use was not an
essential cause of mental health problems. However, it identified one exception:
"vaguebooking," which is posting alarming messages, associated with loneliness and suicidal
thoughts. The results suggest that, although most social network use may not be bad for mental
health, vaguebooking could serve as a potential indicator of underlying mental health problems
in some people.

Comments:
In my opinion, social media nowadays influences a lot in people's lives, for example, I have
friends who don't feel good about themselves and their bodies because they see other women's
bodies on Instagram very perfect, being that most of them use photoshop. So, I do agree that
social media has a lot of influence on someone, and I also think that we should limit ourselves
more with its use.

craving them rather than enjoying them. It points out that different factors, such as genes,
friends, difficult experiences and age, can influence falling into an addiction. In conclusion, it is
said that it is difficult to identify specific genes that are related to the risk of addiction, as it is
quite complex.

among young people and kids. It points out that this addiction can cause various issues like
physical pain, anxiety, and feeling really down. Spending too much time on the internet can also

researchers looked at a bunch of papers to figure this out and found that internet addiction can
harm your thinking, social life, and even your values. They say it's crucial for young people to
learn more about using the internet wisely.

Comments:
In my opinion, addictions are a very serious problem which needs a lot of help to overcome, and
I agree with the articles that addictions can bring you many problems, with any type of addiction
so you should always try to find help.

Synopsis:
The article analyzes the importance of genetically modified (GM) foods due to advances in
transgenic technology. It highlights that the share of GM foods in international trade is
increasing. However, it highlights the legal conflicts surrounding the international trade of GM
foods, which raise legal issues. The article suggests accelerating the development of GM
technology and promoting collaboration with other developing nations. This approach is
considered crucial for China to establish a strong competitive position in international trade and
protect its core interests.

Comments:
I think transgenic foods can help solve food problems and reduce the use of chemicals. But it is
very important to make sure that they are safe and do not harm the environment, for that we need
rules and inspections and to inform people so that they can decide whether to eat them or not.
