III. PROCEDURES

Teacher/s Activity Student/s Activity

Prayer: To begin our class this morning. Let us

acknowledge first the presence of Lord our God to guide and (student will lead the prayer)
give us wisdom. Anyone who would like to lead us in
prayer?

Greetings: Good morning class! Good Morning Sir!

Before you take your seat kindly arrange your chair and pick
up the trash under and around your chairs.
(the students will arrange the chair and
check the classroom and pick up the small
pieces of trash).
Checking of Attendance: Are there any absent today?
None, Ma’am.
Very good. It’s good to see that everyone is present this

morning.

A. Reviewing previous lesson

Let us have a quick review of the previous topic. Last
time you learned about the different between distance and
displacement and their applications.
From our previous lesson, what are the different ways to
describe the motion of an object?

Kindly raise your right hand if you want to answer.

Very good!

I would like to ask the utmost participation of the class to

identify which one is the best answer.

(Present the questions in the board)

1. Which refers to the length of the entire path travelled by an

object?

A. Displacement Answers:
1. B
B. Distance 2. B

2. Which of the following describes displacement?

A. It has magnitude only.

C. It lacks magnitude and direction.

D. It has both the magnitude and direction.

Based on your correct answers from our activity, you now

can identify the different between the distance and
displacement.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

Class, let’s have an activity. but before that I want to ask you
based on your observations what what objects move fast and
what is the slower?
Is it the turtle or the chicken? (all students) The turtle is slow in motion while
the chicken is faster.
Very good! It means certain about the speed of an object.
C. Presenting examples/instances for the new
lesson

This morning to make our class more meaningful let’s do

the activity for you to understand the concepts of Speed and
Velocity.

Please read the instruction. Activity 1: Fun Walk

Objective: After performing this activity, you should

be able to gather data to determine who walks the
fastest.
Materials: stopwatch/timer, marker/chalk/any
materials that can be used as marker

keeper.

Everybody Read our Procedure:

1. All students participants. Assign a recorder who will

record the data.
2. You must obtain the speed of each member of the group
and decide how to used these values to determine who Yes Sir!
among them walks fast. (The student will perform the activity).
3. Mark the starting and finish lines on the ground.
4. Each participant will walk as fast as s/he can to reach the
finish line. No running is allowed.

Are you ready class?

After that answer this Guide Questions:

Directions: Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.

1. What quantities did you calculate to determine the

winner?
2. How did you combine these quantities to determine how
fast or slow the participants walked?

Are you done? Let’s go back to our proper seats.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new
skills

The teacher explains that after determining how far the students
moves, the next question will be “How fast did they move?”

This information can be provided by the objects speed or velocity.

Who can define and differentiate Speed form Velocity.
Speed and velocity both measure an object's rate of
motion.

Speed is a scalar quantity, which means that it can

be described with a numerical value. Velocity is a
vector quantity, which depends on direction as well
as magnitude.
Kindly raise your hand if you want to answer.
Yes, Alexis!

Very well.

Now who can define Average Speed and Instantaneous Speed.

From the back? Yes, Mica.
Average speed is the total path length traversed
by an object divided by the time taken for the
motion, while Instantaneous speed is the speed
recorded at a specific point in time.
Very Good.
Let give them a magaling clap!

To ponder the understanding about the Speed form Velocity

let’s study the figure below and let’s answer the following
guide questions.

E. Finding practical applications of concepts and

skills and daily living

Discuss Speed as distance travel divided by time of travel or

Distance traveled
Speed = Time of travel

Discuss Velocity as Speed with direction (displacement divided by

time of travel) or

Downloaded by noralyn ngislawan ([email protected])

Displacement
Velocity = Time of travel

Do you have any questions about speed and Velocity?

Is it clear?

Now class I have a question for you based on your Learning

Materials or Module.

Why is it important to attain the required speed limit in the road

or highways?

Yes Mica.

Very Good. Let's give him a magaling clap.

All private and public cars and motorcycles may only go as fast as
60kph, while trucks and buses can go up to 50kph.

The maximum speed limit is 60 kph. On the other hand, the

None Sir.
minimum speed limit for all vehicles on Expressways is 60 kph.
Yes Sir.
Excellent! Now are you ready for your evaluation?

The primary purpose of speed limits is to enhance

safety by reducing risks imposed by drivers speed
choices. The intent is to reduce disparities in speeds
and reduce the potential for vehicle conflicts.

Yes Sir!

IV. EVALUATION

To evaluate what you have learn today, let us have a short

quiz and we will check it afterwards.
ANSWERS:
Board Drill:

1. Who is travelling faster than the other, a person who covered

10 meters in 5 seconds or the one who took 10 seconds to cover
20 meters?

2. What is the speed of the car travelling 20 meters in 5 seconds?

3. What is the velocity of the boy running 15 km in 3 minutes
going North. Prepared by:

Are you done?

Before we check, write corrected by and signature. Be Yes Sir. Louie O. Suson
responsible in checking the paper of your seatmates.
