The Origin of the Selat Bali

Once upon a time there lived a Brahmin named Sidi Mantra who was very famous for his supernatural
powers. Sanghyang Widya or Batara Guru gave gifts of wealth and a beautiful wife. After several years of
marriage, they had a son named Manik Angkeran

Manik Angkaran grew up to be a brave and clever young man, but he liked to gamble. He often lost and
was forced to risk his parents' wealth, sometimes he even went into debt. Unable to pay the debt,
Manik Angkeran asked his father to help him do something. Sidi Mantra fasted and prayed to ask the
gods for help. Suddenly he heard a voice, "Hi, Sidi Mantra, in the crater of Mount Agung there is a
treasure guarded by a dragon named Naga Besukih. Go there and ask him to give you a little of his
treasure

Sidi Mantra went to Mount Agung by overcoming all obstacles. Arriving at the edge of the crater of
Mount Agung, he sat cross-legged. While ringing the bell he read a spell and called the name of Naga
Besukih. Not long after that the Dragon came out. After hearing the purpose of Sadi Mantra's arrival, the
Besukih Dragon writhed and gold and diamonds came out of its scales. After saying thank you, Sidi
Mantra excused himself. All the property he obtained was given to Manik Angkaran in the hope that he
would not gamble again. But not in reality the wealth runs out very quickly. Once again Manik Angkeran
asked his father for help. However, Sidi Mantra was disappointed and refused.

After that, Manik Angkeran did not remain silent, he found out where his father got the treasure. Not
long afterward, Manik Angkeran knew that the treasure was obtained from Mount Agung. Manik
Angkeran knew that to get there he had to read a spell but he never learned about prayers and spells.
So, he only carried the bell that was stolen from his father while his father was sleeping.

After arriving at the crater of Mount Agung, Manik Angkaran rang his bell. He was really scared when he
saw the Besukih Dragon. After Naga heard the purpose of Manik Angkeras' arrival, he said, "I will give
you the treasure you ask for, but you have to promise to change your behavior. Don't gamble anymore.
Remember the law of karma."

Manik Angkaran was amazed to see the gold, diamonds and gems in front of him. Then an evil intention
arose in his heart. Because he wanted more treasure, he cut off the tail of the Besukih Dragon when the
Dragon turned around to return to its nest. Manik Angkeran immediately ran away in fear. But because
of the Dragon's supernatural powers, when the trace of the Angkaran Bead was licked by the Dragon, it
burned to ashes.

Seeing the death of his son, Sidi Mantra became very sad, he immediately looked for Naga Besukih and
begged for his son to come back to life. Naga Besukih granted this request on the condition that Sidi
Mantra would return Naga Besukih's tail to its normal state. Then with supernatural powers, Sidi
Mantra's Dragon tail returned to normal. After Manik Angkeran was turned on, he apologized and
promised not to repeat his actions again. Sidi Mantra knew that his son had repented, but he decided
that he could not live with Manik Angkeran anymore.
"You have to start a new life," said Sidi Mantra. In the blink of an eye he disappeared. Where he stood a
water source appeared that grew bigger and bigger like a sea. With magical powers, Sidi Mantra created
a line that separated him from his son.
