Tabung Haji in Malaysia

Haj registration
(Domestic)

Haj Registration
TH has implemented the open registration system that allows Muslim to register for their
pilgrimage throughout the year and at any TH offices nationwide.

Conditions for Registration

 Malaysian Muslim or Muslim Permanent Resident TH depositor with at least RM1300


savings during registration.
 Bankrupt applicant needs to submit letter of approval from the Property Receiver
Office.

Haj Registration Procedures

 Applicants need to fill up the Application Form for Registration and Haj Passport
(JH/PHP/01) that is provided free at all TH offices nationwide.
 The completed from must be submitted to the Haj Registration office with:
1. Identification card
2. Birth certificate for those below 12 years of age

Registration Service Payment

 A non-returnable service chance of RM90 will be deducted from the applicant’s


saving account upon acceptance of his/her application

Registration Period

 With the open registration system there is no fix date and registration can be done
throughout the year at any TH offices nationwide

Registration Centers

Registration can be done at:

 Any TH offices nationwide


 The District Office or Province Office for areas without TH offices
Old and Sickly Prospective Pilgrims
Prospective pilgrim who is old and sickly must be accompanied by the next-of-kin who will
take charge of his/her welfare matters and performance of haj if he/she is sick at the Holy
Land. Details of the next-of-kin are recorded in the pilgrim’s medical record.

Prospective Pilgrims with Unsound Mind


Applicant who suffers from mental disturbance or unsound mind is not eligible for pilgrimage
and exempted from such religious ritual.

Terminal Disease Sufferers with no Change of Recovery


Those suffering from terminal diseases and have no chance of recovery are also exempted
from performing their pilgrimage since their presence might cause difficulties and
inconveniences to on the pilgrims. Permission to perform haj for these people will be at the
discretion of medical officers attending to their condition.

Quota and Priority


The Saudi Arabia Government has imposed quota of pilgrims from each country, thus priority
is given to the early birds for each haj season.

Services at The Holy Land


Pilgrims are strongly advised to follow all procedures of haj handling and participate in
programmers organizer for them. They are also encourage to capitalize on the various
facilities and services provided for them. They could not seek for redemption or compensation
for unused facilities and services.

Haj Passport and Air Ticket


Pilgrims will be given their Haj passport and ticket during registration for departure at the
airport or Haj complex.

Guidebook on Haj Rituals


Guidebook on religious ritual during pilgrimage will be given free during registration.

Haj Courses
The Haj Registration Office will inform prospective pilgrims of the date, time and places of
haj courses for the respective pilgrimage season. It is advisable for them to follow these
courses full heartedly to avoid complications and mistakes during performing their haj or
while staying at the Holy Land.

Identification Tag
The Haj Registration office will provide pilgrims scheduled for departure in the coming haj
season with identification tag in the form of bracelet and nametag.

Health Examination
Pilgrims will be notified to undergo for medical examination and to get anti meningitis
injection in the month of Sya’aban, three months before their scheduled departure. They need
to purchase the Treatment Record Book at the price of RM3 available at the Haj Registration
Office.

Departure for prospective pilgrims who failed in their medical examination will be
postponed until medical officers attending them are satisfied with their health status.

Pilgrimage Through Package or Consortium

Selected pilgrim or those who wish to perform pilgrimage through package service is required
to fill the registration form for Package Unit while those opting for Haj Consortium can
acquire the confirmation form for participation (JH/HP/07) from the relevant body.

Flight Schedule

TH will send flight schedule to prospective pilgrims under its wing while sponsors will notify
those opted for package and consortium service.

Cancellation and Postponement

 Prospective pilgrims who wish to cancel or postpone their departure are required to fill
the JH01 Form available at the Haj Registration Office and the complete form needs to
be returned to the respective office.
 Applicants must satisfy stringent conditions imposed by Tabung Haji since their
decision to cancel or postpone departure will trigger a chain-reaction to Tabung Haji’s
pilgrimage operations.
 For request made after expenditure for pilgrimage has been debited into their account
or allocation of seat has been given to them, Tabung Haji will freeze RM900 from
their savings account.
 Exemption is given for cases such as death or absence of mahram (next-of-kin or
female companion) for female pilgrim or as advised by medical officer.

Health Examination

 Among the rationales for conducting health examination.


 To observe regulations imposed by the Saudi Arabia Government.
 To receive proper medication in prevention of fatal disease, Meningococcol
Meningitis Quadrivalent (ACYW-135).
 Pilgrims can get the vaccination from government hospitals for free.
 To ensure prospective pilgrims suffering from any chronic disease can be treated and
their health conditions stabilized before their scheduled departure besides identifying
types of medications and treatments required.
 To provide pilgrims with proper medical record. With such medical reference it will
be easier for them to seek proper treatment at the Holy Land.
 Pregnant woman are not allowed to perform pilgrimage.
 To identify condition of prospective pilgrims. Those suffering from mental
disturbance, unsound mind or senile are not allowed to perform their pilgrimage
fearing they might not qualify for certain religious rituals.
 To ensure pilgrims are physically fit to enable them to perform their pilgrimage
diligently and accordingly.

Health Examination Centers

Health examinations can only be conducted at government hospitals or panel clinics of


Tabung Haji. Cost for medical examination at the panel clinic will be borne by the pilgrims.

Methods of Examination

There are two stages of medical examination:

Prospective pilgrims age 60 years and above need to undergo medical examination between
six months and ten months before departure to the Holy Land to:

 Identify their health status including mental and physical fitness and dietary for early
detection of ailment due to age factor. They need more time to adapt to today’s
healthcare practice and treatments as part of preparation for their pilgrimage
 Identify high-risk group to enable early treatments
 Identify special treatment procedures, equipment and medications for those with
chronic diseases

Appeal

 Those who are highly determined to perform their pilgrimage despite failing their
medical examination can submit their appeal to the Appeal committee through TH’s
state office. The state office will call for Appeal Committee to look into the appeal
case by case. Decision are made through discussion and not by the individual
committee members.
 If the appeal is turned down, the affected pilgrims will have no choice but to postpone
their departure.

Vaccination

Vaccination helps to prevent various types of diseases and health problem

Compulsary vaccination

Meningococcal Quadrivalent

 All prospective pilgrims must get the anti-Meninggoccal Meningitis vaccine,


Meningococcal Quadrivalent Vaccine ACYW-135. Meningitis is the inflammation of
the meninges a thin membrane covering the brain and its main nerve caused by virus
or bacteria. These airborne virus and bacteria can be transmitted easily through
inhaling of air contaminated by the virus and bacteria or by direct physical contact .
 Once in the blood stream it poisons the blood and travels to the brain causing
meningitis. Vaccination is needed at least two weeks before departure and it can last
for three years.

Choices of Vaccine

Pilgrims are also encouraged to take other type of vaccines such as:

 Influenza Vaccine. This should be taken one month before departure. Influenza or
better knows as flu is airborne and transmitted through sneezing and coughing. Both
adults and children are exposed to this common virus. Influenza vaccine is safe for
everyone exposed to this common virus. Influenza vaccine is safe for everyone except
for allergic to egg, the source of developing this vaccine. The treatment is given free at
government hospitals and clinics. Vaccination for influenza is highly recommended
for pilgrims aged 60 years and above and those suffering from chronic disease such as
asthma, diabetes, pneumonia, kidney problems and aging-related problems.
 Pneumococcus Vaccine23-valent. This vaccine is to prevent from pneumonia, a
common lung problem among adults, aged people and children.

Woman

1. Menstruation. It is not a problem except when performing of Tawaf and Saie. Female
pilgrims who have yet to menopause must keep stock of sanitary pad.
2. Hormone Medicine. Female pilgrims who do not want to be disturbed by menstruation
can subscribe to hormone medicine. However, they must first seek the doctor’s advice
fearing complications to the individuals. Hormone medicine should be taken at least
one month before departure to familiarize the body with such treatment and to identify
suitability of the body to such medicine. Such treatment should be stopped if the body
does not adapt well to it.
 Female pilgrims with menstrual problems should seek advice from Obstetrician and
Gynaecologist before departure.

Allocation and Expenditure

Expenditure at The Holy Land

Pilgrims participating in the normal package (muassasah) are advised to bring sufficient
amount of money for their expenditure at the Holy Land other than for food and drinks that
will be provided by Tabung Haji. They can deposit their money in their TH savings account
that can be withdraw during their stay at the Holy Land. TH also provides payment service for
penalty (Dam) and sacrifice. Estimated cost for each penalty in the form of sheep is Saudi
Riyal 250.

Expenditure

Haj expenditure refers to the amount needed for:

 Haj passport
 Two-way ticket (to the Holy Land and back to malysia)
 Service charge imposed by the Saudi Arabia authorities handling pilgrims namely,
Muassasah Mutawwif (Mecca), Muassasah Adillak (Medina) and representatives of
United Representatives in Jeddah
 House rental in Macca and Medina
 Bus fare at the Holy Land
 Food and drink at Arafah and Mina
 Tent at Arafah and Mina

Pilgrimage Cost

Attached is the minimum cost for performing pilgrimage for adult and children that include:

 Passport for haj and registration service charges


 Air ticket and airport tax
 House rental in Macca and Medina
 Services rendered by Southeast Asia Muassasah and Zamzamani Muassasah at Mecca
and Adilak Muassasah at Medina; charges imposed by the United Representatives in
Jeddah and baggage handling
 Tent, food and drinks at Arafah and Mina
 Bus fare from Jeddah to Medina, Mecca, Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina and back to
Mecca and Jeddah

TH will absorb the following cost

1. Part of the food provided at the Holy Land


2. Identification bracelet
3. Haj guidance book
4. Health brochures
5. Guidebook on journey during pilgrimage
6. Haj course
7. Food provided at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport
8. Takaful insurance
9. 5 litre Zamzam water
10. Medical and welfare services and facilities

Departure

Flights

 Pilgrim will be issued the Haj Flight Schedule two weeks after Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
 The schedule contains information such as date and time of departure, airline and
flight number, place and time for check-in, place and time for gathering and final
briefing.
 Issuance of vital documents such as haj passport and various other activities and
procedures that need to be complied prior to departure.
 It will also notify pilgrim detail of the schedule arrival from the Holy Land to enable
family members to make the necessary arrangements.

Presently, TH handles pilgrim flights from:

KLIA, Kuala Lumpur- check-in process done in Tabung Haji’s complex in Sepang.

Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang- check-in process done in Tabung Haji’s Complex in Bayan
Lepas

Senai, Johor

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah- check-in process done in Tabung Haji’s complex in Kota kinabalu

Kuching, Sarawak
Alor Setar, Kedah- check-in process done in Tabung Haji’s Complex in Alor Setar.

Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu- check-in process done in Tabung Haji’s Complex in Kuala
Terengganu.
