SURAH-AL-BAQRAH
(Surah Al baqrah verse no. 284 to 286)
Verse no. 284: Explanation: All that is in the heavens and earth belongs to Allah, whether you show whatever is in your heart or conceal it. We all will be answerable before Allah and then he will forgive whomsoever he wants and will punish whomsoever he wants. This is 1st fundamental principle of Islam. That God is the sovereign of the heavens and earths and all they contain, and it is improper for a man who doesn’t bend himself in obedience and service to God. This sentence shows two other matters. One is that man is individually responsible to, and answerable before God. Second is the God before whom man is answerable is All-knowing. It means that nothing is concealed from Him. Even the intentions and thoughts which are hidden in the hearts and minds of people. This refers that God has full absolute authority. He is not bound by laws made by anyone. He has full power and absolute sovereign either to punish or pardon people.
Verse no. 285:
The messenger believes and his believers also believes in the guidance which has been sent down upon Him by his lord. Each of them believes in Allah, in His angels, and in His books, and His messengers. They say we make no any difference between any of his messengers. We hear and obey. Our lord! Grant us your forgiveness to you we destined to return. Explanation: This verse shows that what a man is required to believe and what should be distinguishing characteristics of one’s guidance. Required things to believe are; belief in Allah, in his angels, in his books and in his messengers, and also belief in that each will be responsible before Allah’s judgment. These are five fundamental articles of faith in Islam. All Muslims are supposed to accept them. That is proper attitude for a Muslim to accept and follow whatever he received from God, and should always seek God’s forgiveness and mercy.
Verse no. 286:
Allah doesn’t lay responsibility on anyone beyond his capacity. Allah is in favour of anyone when he does good in against when someone does evils. (Believers)! Pray to your lord, “our lord take us not to task if we forgot or commit mistakes.” Explanation: Allah will count our abilities at the Day of Judgment when our deeds will be counted. Our lord! Lay not on us a burden such as you laid on those gone before us. Our lord! Not lay a burden on us which we do not have power to bear. And overlook our faults, and forgive us, and have mercy upon us. Man’s answerability to God is limited by the space of his ability. If a man has not an ability to do a certain thing, God will not ask him for performing that thing. Every man will be rewarded for whatever he has earned in the world. None will be rewarded for an other’s deeds. Something for punishment, none will be punished for other’s bad deeds. The prayer here is that Allah will not bless us with severe tests but if he subject severe tests we should face them with patience and pray to God to make them easy for us. By: Erum Parveen Soomro
