DROPSHIPPING 101

…
• A customer will see your site (from an advert of some sort), come to
your store and buy your product for a marked up price.
• You will then forward the order details onto your supplier and buy the
product for a wholesale price
• The supplier will then ful ll the order and send it directly to your
customer while you make a pro t on the difference between the marked
up and wholesale price.

DROPSHIPPING EXPLAINED
The dropshipping business model has been around for many years. It has become
easier to get started as the barriers to entry have been lowered. Previously, you may
have had to set up a wordpress site, send emails and get on the phone with suppliers
to convince them to let you dropship their products. Only then, could you try and run
Google Ads or attempt SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to generate traf c.
Times have changed drastically; Shopify is now an easy way to build an ecommerce
store without needing any tech skills whatsoever
Facebook now has more data points than ever, which lets you target speci c people
based on their likes, interests and demographics.

Before you even open your laptop to work, there are a few questions you should answer
The questions
• Are you opening solo or with a business partner
• If it’s with a partner, how will you split up the work? What about the pro t
• If you’re in a committed relationship, will your signi cant other support you working
long hours? (If this is a side-hustle on top of a full-time job, it’s not uncommon to work
well into the night. If it's your main job, you'll likely need nancial support as you start.
Beyond these relationship questions, you’ll also want to determine your goal.
• Do you want this to replace your job, or is it a hobby
• How much time do you have to spend on this project
• What about money - do you have a budget to hire a designer, or will you bootstrap? (If
you’re bootstrapping, it will require a lot more of your time.
• How casual or serious do you want the tone of your business to be? What are some
companies whose tone you admire? Consider these for your about us page, as a lot of
people get hung up on that and it will eat into your hour if you let it!

SHOPIFY
Shopify currently has over 500,000 merchants with big names such as Kylie Cosmetics, Gymshark &
Fashionova all using their platform. It's fantastic because it doesn’t require you to have any technical web
building skills at all. It also has a very intuitive interface and their app store has a ‘plug & play’ feature
for pretty much anything you want.
Currently, Shopify has a free option that you can use to get a feel for things and explore your ideas.
There is no harm in getting familiar with the interface at no cost whatsoever.
Shopify works on a subscription based model and at the time of writing, they currently have 3 tiers
The difference is mainly based on the amount of transaction fees you will be charged and how many staff
accounts you can have. If you’re starting out, you will only need to go with the $29 plan.
• Go to www.shopify.com/signup to start
a free trial. Enter your email, name, and
store name (you can change your store
name later if needed)
• After you select Create your store,
you’ll see a “Tell us a little about
yourself” page. Your answers here only
affect the advice emails Shopify sends
you in their newsletter
• On the next page, enter your name and
mailing address. If you started a
corporation, use your business address.
Otherwise, use your home address
• Once you click Enter my store, you’re
all set!
.
FINDING A NAME
You will need to think of a name for your store and depending on what type of store you
choose, this will vary. Thinking of a name, for some people, is the rst hurdle they face;
they spend hours or even days trying to come up with the perfect name for their store.
While I do agree that the name of the store is important, it shouldn’t take you more than
24-48 hours to think of one.
First, let’s talk about what you should not call your store. Always avoid using the words:
deals, store, gadgets, offer, shop, discount etc. These types of names scream scam to
customers.
You need a name that is easy to brand, is catchy, is easy to spell and most importantly is
available with the .com domain
We recommend store names to be a maximum of two words if possible. To nd a name, I
rst like to think of a root word, which I 100% want in my domain. Once I have my root
word, we like to use a website called leandomainsearch.com
Firstly, put in your root word then hit search. This website will then suggest a number of
words that you can use along with your root word to make up your domain name. We
suggest narrowing it down to 3-5 you like, then picking your nal one out of those.
If the domain name is available, head over to Godaddy and register the domain or on
shopify at online store -> domains to claim it. You can then add this to your store.
fi
fi
fi
fi
CHOOSE YOUR STORE’S NAME
Important! Product speci c names do work, But keep your product offerings (current AND future) in mind. Don’t let your name limit
you.

LOGO CREATION
• Shopify has a tool for free logo creation.
fi
MOCKUP GENERATOR
A mockup generator is an online browser based tool which allows you to create product
mockups without any third party software, such as Photoshop.
• The end result is a high-quality mockup image which you can download as JPG or PNG
image
fi
Your domain name is what your customers type in the browser’s URL bar to visit your
store (i.e., www.yourdomainname.com).
In most cases, your domain name should be your store name (i.e.,
www.yourstorename.com)
You can register your domain name through Shopify (the easiest method and the one we
recommend) or you can register it through a third-party like Namecheap (less expensive
but more complicated since you’ll have to change your domain name server [DNS]
settings)
Note: Check to make sure your domain name is available before you settle on a store name!
There’s nothing worse than nding the perfect name only to realize the .com is taken
fi
A theme is a pre-created website design you can add to your store to make it
look pretty without writing code. There are hundreds of themes to choose
from; some are better than others. Many third-party developers create themes
you can use that aren’t in the Shopify theme store
To edit your store’s theme, click Online Store > Themes then click the Visit
Theme Store button
.
In most cases, paid themes just have better styling options and more features meaning
you don’t have to add as may additional apps to your store. So, which are the best
themes to use?
PAID THEMES
There are thousands of paid themes on the market with some being more expensive
than others.
We have personally, paid for and used many of them and I certainly have my
favourites. If your budget allows then I would recommend getting one, but it’s not
essential if it is not within your budget.
By far, our favourite paid theme is Turbo by Out Of The Sandbox. It gets its name
for being super fast, which is great for increasing your conversion rate. It’s one of the
most expensive paid theme on the market but it’s worth it for sure.
GENERAL SETTING
Here you can edit your store name, email, store address, and
more. If you changed your store name after signing up, update it

CHECKOUT SETTINGS
Under your checkout settings, switch Customer accounts to “optional,” and customers can create an account but aren’t required to.
Click Save.
.
ACCOUNT SETTINGS
If you have a partner or a virtual assistant, you can give them an account on this page.
Click Add staff account and choose what you want them to have access to your store.
SHIPPING SETTINGS
Steps
• In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping
• Next to the shipping pro le that you want to add a shipping rate, click Manage rates
• Next to the zone that you want to add a rate to, click Add rate
fi
.
LEGAL SETTINGS
This is an important setting — without it, you’re operating illegally
Every online store needs a Refund Policy, a Privacy Policy, and a Terms of Service (ToS) Agreement
Luckily, Shopify can generate one for you based on your settings. Again, remember we are not lawyers and this
is not legal advice. Once your store starts generating revenue, we recommend having an attorney review these
documents for you
Simply click the three Create from template buttons under each section
.
PREFERENCES
First, edit your store’s meta title and description — the text that appears in the search engines.
Some tips
• The max title length is 60 characters; the max description is 160 characters
• Add your keyword in the title and description
• Think like a copywriter. Would you click this link if you saw it after searching for your
product?
:
Scroll down to the Facebook pixel section and paste your pixel ID.
• On Shopif
• Enter the title “About Us” and content for the page.
• Click Save.
y
fi
• Be motivating - Consider what you want your customers to do and how you want them to feel after reading the page.
• Be authentic - Tell the story of your business by using a unique voice.
• If possible, include the values that drive your business, the story of its growth and challenges, and the goals of your
business.
• Be engaging - Use pictures or videos to break up the text and help your customers relate to your business. For
example, you might offer photos of your business team, or video testimonials from past customers
As your business grows and changes over time, you can update this page with content that's relevant to your customers
fi
s
You can leave it like this, but we recommend to add some explaining text.
Dear Customer
Feel free to contact us regarding service, products or for any reason through the contact form below.
SHIPPING POLICY
• Help your visitors understand how long shipping will take, if your store sells internationally, who
will deliver their package — and you’ll get fewer customer service questions (be sure you make
this page easy to nd)
• How to track their purchase. (In the Shopify app store add “AfterShip - Track & Notify)
This page is especially helpful if you’re dropshipping from overseas and have long shipping times (like 10+ days).
Steps
• Click Save.

fi
.
Click Main menu to edit your main navigation menu that goes on the top of your site
To add a page, click Add menu item, then Pages > Contact Us (or whichever page you’re adding).
Repeat if you want your About page and your Shipping Policy page in the main navigation.
Preview your site with the eyeball button; you should see the navigation links you added.
Click each one to make sure the pages (About us,FAQs etc.) are responding , then go back to
your dashboard to add your rst product.
fi
PRODUCT PAGE
• HD images of the product - Make sure they are clean with no watermarks.
• Features and Bene ts - Sell the customer on the bene ts of the product. How it will
make them feel etc.
• ‘Our Guarantee’ - Builds trust with the customer, mention a 30 day money back
guarantee, 24/7/365 fast customer support etc.
• Shipping: Give them a reason for the longer delivery times e.g ‘Orders ar typically
processed in 1-2 business days. Use the order tracking page fo updates. Due to a high demand
delivery takes 12-20 business days. We do ou best to get your products to you as fast as possible.’
fi
fi
PRODUCT PAGE
Enter your product’s title and description.
In your description, we recommend talking about the BENEFITS of your product rst, the
features second.
People buy based on emotion and need - e.g. they don’t buy because something is “made
of titanium”, they buy because they want something that’s long-lasting.
Images are extremely important in selling a product online. If your images are bad
quality, you’ll lose credibility and sales.
fi
PRODUCT ORGANIZATION
• Product type is the type of product (i.e., phone, tea, toiletry, etc.) you sell. Product
types are one way to create product collections, which we’ll talk about in a second
• Vendor is used for shipping and inventory purposes. Unless you’re integrating a
vendor API, you don’t need to worry about this. (If you don’t know what that is, you
don’t need to worry about this.
• The Collections settings allow you to manually add this product to a collection of
products, helping customers browse your inventory
• Tags are a way to organize products into collections and improve your site’s search
function. If I tag something as “Tea” and the customer searches “Tea” in the search
eld on my site, everything tagged “Tea” will show.
fi
)
PRODUCT PRICING
Your Compare at price will be shown crossed out next to your actual
price to use price anchoring, a conversion optimization strategy.
❖
fi
.
PRODUCT VARIANTS
This is where you add variations of your products like size or color. For example, if
you’re selling T-shirts, you can add size (S, M, L) and color (red, green, blue).
CREATE YOUR COLLECTIONS
A collection is a group of similar products, based on tags, types, vendors, etc. They help
your customers nd similar products.
ADDING DISCOUNTS
To add discount codes to your store, go to Discounts > Codes then name or generate your
code, set the parameters (like $10 off, 10% off, only on orders over $50, etc.)
Discounts is a great way to increase AOV (Average Order Value) with a 3 for 2 special, buy 2
get 50% off
We recommend that you start with using “Eprolo” as your main supplier (You will
need to integrate Eprolo Shopify> Apps > Add App > Eprolo.
OR copy and paste the product page’s link to “import Ali products”
fi
)
fi
fi
fi
.
fi
.
Another option is to search for a product name, but this is when you have
already found a product, and you’re trying to nd out if other people are
already selling that product, and if so, what kind of ads are they running.
fi
SEARCHING YOUR FACEBOOK FEED
Looking for adverts with excellent engagement (lots of views, likes & comments)
is one indicator of whether a product has potential. If an advert has a high
number of likes, comments & shares then chances are it’s a winning product for
that store.
To do this, simply start scrolling through your Facebook feed and when you nd
an advert that is selling a product that looks like it’s from a dropshipping store,
like it, save it and click on the advert. The more ads you engage with the more
Dropshipping ads you will receive on your feed because you would appear to be
a “Engaged Shopper”
fi
fi
You want to visit the store selling the product so the Facebook pixel from that
advertiser activates.
When you do this, it tells Facebook that you are interested in this kind of product/
adverts and they will start to show you more adverts like this.
To take it a step further you can also add the product to your cart and initiate
checkout. Again, this is signalling to Facebook that you are a potential ‘buyer’ on
Facebook.
When you do this consistently over time, Facebook will put you into the ‘likely
buyers’ category and show you more products.
Searching Ad Library
This is another method you can use to nd products that a page/store is advertising
which may be worth testing.
To do this on your desktop computer, when you see a Facebook page selling a product,
click on the page and on the right hand side of the page when you scroll down it will
say ‘See Transparency’ click on ‘see more’ link.
By clicking this, it will show information about the page and at the bottom it will say
‘ads from the page’. In the bottom right hand corner it will say ‘go to ads library’, click
on that link.
It will default to the country you are currently in, but to change that head to the top left
hand corner where it says ‘Filter by:’ and change that to ‘All’. When you do this, it will
show you all of the ads the page is running in every country it is targeting.
By doing this, you will be able to see the date the advert started running, the platform it
is running on, the ad copy, videos/pictures and more. Now, one thing this won’t show
you is the engagement of the adverts but, if you look at the dates of when the advert
started, the longer it has been running the increased likelihood that it’s working for
them.
Afterall, who spends money on an advert that is not generating them money?!
fi
So head over to Aliexpress and start searching for the products you have identi ed. It’s as
simple as typing the name of the product, for example, if you wanted to search for a cat
watch that was selling well you would type in ‘Cat Watch’.
When you do this a bunch of variations will come up; you may nd the product right
away or it may take some time to scroll through the pages to nd it. You can add in any
keywords that may help you to nd the product.
You can also sort the results by number of orders sold. This will show you the best selling
vendors who are selling the most units of a product. It’s a good idea to use these vendors
as they are likely to be more experienced. A few things you should always do is to check
the reviews of the product, look at the seller feedback and also look at how long the
company has been selling on Aliexpress.
Good vendors will have a positive feedback of 95% or higher. If you nd that a vendor
has this feedback but hasn’t been in business for long (under 1 year), then you may want
to consider another vendor.
fi
fi
fi
fi
fi
PAID METHODS
There are tons of paid tools, softwares and websites you can use that cut down the time
you spend manually looking for winning products with potential. These tools are often a
monthly based subscription with some being more expensive than others and having
different features.
Most of these tools make it easier for you to nd winning products as they curate products
that already have a lot of likes, shares and comments; this saves you time. Remember, time
is money and the time you spend nding products means you’re not spending money on
testing them. You want to be able to have a pipeline full of products that you can be
consistently testing.
We recommend being subscribed to at least one paid software as it will save you time and
give you some good ideas when searching for new products.
Here are a few of the top paid tools out there that we like to use:
fi
fi
ADSPY
Ad spy is one of the largest product nding tools out there. It
is also considered one of the best and most frequently used by most high level
dropshippers. It is the most expensive on the market but it has a large database of over
20 million ads from over 150+ countries that is constantly being updated.
You can nd a product based on the number of likes it has,
daily likes, country, if it’s being advertised by a Shopify store, emoji reactions on the
post and so much more. One thing that makes it powerful is that you can search ads
by ad text, a URL, comments and more meaning you can really hone in and nd
winning gems, especially spying on other dropshippers.
fi
fi
fi
E-SNIPER
E-Sniper is another product nding tool that we frequently use. This tool has less features
than AdSpy but I have found a lot of winners using it. The main feature that we like to use
this tool for is the ‘Viral Sniper’. This feature is a section with personally hand picked viral
winning products that you can test out immediately. It really cuts down your time in
nding products. You also get the link to the store selling the product, the link to the
Facebook advert, your potential pro ts and even the link to Aliexpress. It is updated with
new products every day.
There are other features built into E-Sniper that are worth checking out, but in all honesty
we only use the Viral Sniper and it has been golden for nding stuff to test out and getting
product ideas from other pages and stores.
fi
fi
fi
fi
ALISHARK
Alishark is a tool that you can use to analyse products on Aliexpress. It is different from
the tools previously mentioned as it doesn’t show any Facebook ads. This website is a
tool to nd untapped products that are showing good trends on Aliexpress but may
not be advertised on Facebook by other dropshippers yet. By nding such products,
you can be the rst to test the market and get that lion’s share of a golden winning
product.
You can sort by best selling products by day, week and
month plus you can also lter on price, country, niche and many more. One of the
features I really like about Alishark, is that you can specify to only view products that
have videos. This means that you can nd original video footage which you can
potentially use in the video for your Facebook advert- this may be content that no one
else is using
fi
fi
fi
fi
fi
ECOMHUNT
Ecomhunt was one of the rst product nding tools to come on to the market, so
naturally they have a large user base. It works just like the E-Sniper ‘Viral Sniper’
feature in the sense that it has personally handpicked winning products ready for you
to test out. It also gives you the same information such as link to the store, Facebook
advert, Aliexpress vendor and potential pro ts you could make. You may be thinking
what's the difference between this and E-Sniper and the answer is price and products
they upload.
Ecomhunt is one of the cheapest paid software tools on the market and we have
personally been subscribed to this for a long time. We have also found multiple
winning products on there. The products they upload are different to E-Sniper and
although occasionally you may nd the same products on each tool, this is a rarity. If
you’re on a budget, then this would be a good starting tool.

GET FAMILIAR WITH YOUR ORDERS PAGE
To manage your orders and ful ll them, you have to go to the Orders page.
APPS WE RECOMMEND
1. Basic Shopify
2. Shopify
3. Advanced Shopif
:
We recommend starting with the Basic Shopify plan unless you know you’re going to
have over $20,000 per month in sales.
The main difference between the plans is your cost per sale (2.9% versus 2.6% versus
2.4% of the total) plus $0.30 for each transaction
Until $20,000 per month, you’re generally losing money on the regular “Shopify” plan if
you're exclusively using Shopify Payments

RUNNING & GROWING
YOUR ECOMMERCE BUSINESS
Getting started is one thing, running and growing your business is another. So in this
section we want to explain some of the operational aspects you will need to consider for
the future when running an ecommerce business.
The point we want to get across to you is that you will NOT be able to do all of this on
your own, especially if you want to scale to those larger numbers. There will come a
point when you will need to hire virtual assistants (VAs) to help run your business
alongside you. This is called outsourcing.
Everything, including product ful llment, customer service, product descriptions, video
editing and more, can be outsourced.
It is possible do everything on your own as well as working a 9-5 job at the same time
because once everything is set up there are a lot of departments that are automated.
fi
When you start to gain some traction in your business there will come a point when you
will begin to feel stretched and overworked from all of the tasks that need doing on a
daily basis.
This is natural, but in order to grow you will need to hire some help so you can of oad
some of the time consuming jobs.
You should only be focusing on the money making tasks in your business.
The rst thing you will need to outsource is customer service. When spending time
answering customer emails, it will reduce the time you could dedicate to other things
such as nding products, scaling or testing new products and tweaking your website.
Once you outsource it, you then have more free time to dedicate to the money making
tasks. So, you’re probably thinking how do I outsource?
fi
fi
fl
UPWORK
There are two websites we like to use to nd VAs. We still use these websites to this day
and the majority of my VAs were found through these websites.
The best one is Upwork.com. This website is probably one of the most well-known
freelancer websites out there. It’s free to hire but does charge you and the VA a fee when
you pay them their wages
To hire on Upwork, you need to put a job description containing what the job entails, the
skills required, how much pay per hour and whether it’s full time or part time.
Freelancers will then submit their application forms and CVs for you to go through and
shortlist any that you may wish to talk to further.
