2. An engine develops a torque of 118 Nm at the flywheel at 2500 rev I min and
drives through constant-mesh pinions of 17 teeth on the clutch shaft and 30 on
the lay shaft (Figure 1). Second-gear pinions on lay shaft and main shaft have
20 and 27 teeth respectively, and the bevel pinion and crown wheel 11 and 50
teeth. Calculate the speed and torque at each axle shaft on top and second
gear, presuming equal speed of each shaft. ( 6marks)
