Manay is a 12-year-old boy from the Sasak tribe from Sade Village Lombok, Manay
sells thread bracelets. Manay and his friends make their own thread bracelets. After
school Manay and his friends sell bracelets on the beach, with prices of 5,000 to
15,000. In one day Manay can sell 5 to 6 thread bracelets. The Sales results used to
increase the pocket money and school needs . In the afternoon Manay and friends

Craftsmen from Garut
Mr. Samad is a slippers craftsman from Garut. A long time ago , Mr. Samad was a
seller of leather slippers, he sells by walking from village to village and then to
Jakarta to sell leather slippers from the factory. From starting to sell he knows the
desires of the buyer, the buyer's favorite model. Then Mr. Samad learned to make
slippers, and begin experiment with various models of homemade slippers. And the
products from Mr. Samad are enjoyed by consumers. Learning never stops, making
Mr. Samad business to grow. The different between Garut’s slippers and the others
is new model and uses quality material.
Mr. Samad also had the opportunity to participate in introducing his product and
invited to work with exporters from abroad. Now Mr. Samad’s slippers product go
abroad. Simple models with good quality material and stitches make slippers
preferred by people abroad.

Learning Experience from ASEAN Countries
Udin, Edo, Beni, Siti, Dayu, Lani and their classmates visited the ASEAN
cultural exhibition held by Secretariat ASEAN located in Jakarta. Arriving at the
exhibition arena, Udin spent a lot time on the platform which presented various
information about the role of ASEAN in developing small entrepreneurs. There are
various creative products, such as leather jackets from Indonesia, canned candied
fruit from Thailand, classic coffee brewers from Vietnam.
Beni is interested in the Brunei State bridge showing Wayang Asik. At
present, Brunei is trying to rebuild the interest of the community to study Wayang
Asik. The interesting thing for Beni is to see the innovations made by the Brunei
bridge to introduce Wayang Asik. This Wayang Asik displays a small human figure.
The height of the doll is only about eight to ten cm. This puppet is made of thick
paper with a wooden handle.Udin and his friends also participated in various
competitions held by several platforms.

Kasongan Bantul Pottery Exports

Billions of Rupiah per month
Crafters at the Kasongan pottery and ceramics center, Bantul Regency,
Special Region of Yogyakarta, is capable of exporting various kinds of crafts. The
export reaches 80 containers per month or equivalent to around 6 billion rupiah.
Various exported pottery crafts include bandaged jarswith shells and glass, statues,
outdoor decorations with variousmodel, and the pattern of development.
The Kasongan craft center has hundreds of artisans spread in fiverural area,
with around 200 export quality craftsmen, including fivelarge scale craftsmen. In the
period 2008 to 2010,the export of handicrafts indeed tended to fall, especially to
America and Europe, but starting in 2011 and afterwards exports began to increase
and even began to spread to Australia and parts of Asia.
