CONTENT OF INPUT DEVICE
LESSON A peripheral used to provide data and control signals to a
computer.
TYPES
Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Digital camera, Joystick
FEATURES
Keyboard: a typewriter-style device which uses an
arrangement of buttons or keys to act as a mechanical lever or
electronic switch.
Mouse: a pointing device that detects two-dimensional motion
relative to a surface which is typically translated into the
motion of a pointer on a display, which allows a smooth control
of the graphical user interface
Scanner: a device that optically scans images, printed text,
handwriting or an object and converts it to a digital image
Digital Camera: (Digicam) is a camera that encodes digital
images and videos digitally and stores them for later
reproduction
Joystick: an input device consisting of a stick that pivots on a
base and reports its angle or direction to the device it is
controlling. It is the principal control device in the cockpit of
many aircraft and is often used to control video games.
PREVIOUS Students have been taught how to operate computers using
KNOWLEDGE keyboards and mouse.
PRESENTATION Teacher use questions to ascertain students recollection of input
devices taught in Basic 7

CONTENT OF REGISTER
LESSON A processor register is small high speed storage inside the CPU. All
data must be represented in a register before it can be processed.
ADDRESS
Memory address is a unique number that refers to a specific
location in a computer’s memory.
BUS
A bus is a communication system that transfers data between
components inside a computer, or between computers.
TYPES OF REGISTERS

• ACCUMULATOR
• MDR – MEMORY DATA REGISTER
• MAR – MEMORY ADDRESS REGISTER
