    Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes of vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear. It results from endolymphatic hydrops, where the endolymphatic system of the inner ear becomes distended with fluid. This can be caused by either increased production of inner ear fluid or decreased absorption of the fluid. Common causes include defective absorption by the endolymphatic sac, obstructions of the endolymphatic sac, increased sympathetic nervous activity, allergic reactions, sodium and water retention, hypothyroidism, and some autoimmune and viral conditions.
