2.1 Description of Production Processes

Gray-Cloth : Gray cloth received is distributed individually for measurement

of length and width in the gray cloth department.
Jet Dyeing : In this section, the gray cloth goes for washing action. This action
takes place at a temperature 130°C and pressure 2.5 kg/cm 2.
Washing : In the jet-dyeing machine, cloth is washed. There are four types
of washing: Normal Washing, Soap Washing, Scouring and
Weight Reduction
Normal washing and soap washing is done either in soft or hard
water, whereas scouring and weight reduction process requires
steam. Scouring is done in alkaline medium with application of
Na2S2O3 and NaOH. Weight reduction profess involves treatment
with oxalic acid for removal of rust and scale.
Drum washer is preferred in case of obtaining micro quality dress
material of high shrinkage.
Dyeing : Dyeing is carried out with disperse dyes at temperature 130°C
for 25 - 35 Minutes. Application of dispersing agents, dyes and
auxiliaries is done here. Acidification follows the dyeing to
remove excess unfixed colour. Application of whitening agent
(White-R) is done jet dyeing to impart white colour on the cloth.
Thermosetting : Dyed fabric coming from jet dyeing machine is taken to starter
machine where thermosetting is done at 180°C - 190°C for 30 -
40 seconds, which provides dimensional stability to the cloth.
Finishing : In includes addition of finishing agents like softeners, elastomers,
filters etc. To cloth coming from washing section, this is done as
per customer requirements.
Zero - Zero : Finally, the fabric is taken to Zero - Zero machines where smooth
finishing is done. Water is continuously added into steam –
heated blanket.
Folding : At last the fabric goes to the folding machine for measuring
and sorting then the fabric is ready for dispatch.
