9 In your English class you have been talking about what influences you. Your English
teacher has asked you to write an essay for homework. Look at the title of the essay and
the notes you have written. Write your essay in 140–190 words.
How much influence do our friends have on what we think and do?
Write about:
 school.
 free time.
 your own idea.

Friendship is an important value in our lives, friends can influence the way we behave or think.
However, we may behave differently when we are at school than when we are outside, so how much
influence do our friends have?

First of all, almost everyone goes to school, we love seeing our friends there, it makes us feel happy and
delighted that we can talk and laugh with someone. Also, doing projects with people who we feel
comfortable with can make our grades better.
Secondly, it’s a fact that spending your free time with your friends can boost your mood, most people
would rather spend time with somebody than alone.
Lastly, good friends are vitally important to your mental health and the quality of your life, we all need
someone to talk with, to share our worries, but we need to be careful, be sure who you consider a friend
or you could get hurt.

In conclusion, the influence our friends have on us is bigger than we think, and remember to be careful
about who you trust.
