Class Description:
The Grade 6 Active Living class aims to achieve the following objectives:
Class Rules:
1. Respect: Treat classmates, teachers, and equipment with respect.
2. Participation: Engage actively in all class activities and discussions.
3. Safety: Follow safety guidelines and rules during all physical activities.
Report all accidents to the teacher, no matter how minor.
4. Sportsmanship: Display good sportsmanship and fair play at all times.
5. Listen and Follow Instructions: Pay attention to instructions and follow
them carefully. Stay off equipment and do not handle equipment
6. Cooperation: Work collaboratively with classmates during team activities.
7. Personal Achievement: Try your best in every activity and come to class
with a positive attitude!
Weekly Units:
Class Clothing:
As many of the activities we will be participating in require students to move - it is
requested that students change into gym strip. Proper athletic wear promotes
good hygiene and allows for maximum participation. Please wear proper shoes with
good support, athletic pants or shorts, and a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt. Please do
not wear sandals, crocs, runners that do not tie up or footwear without good
supports.

Students who are excused for an injury or illness will require a note from a
parent/guardian or doctor. If possible, please provide a length of time. Students
who are injured will be given a worksheet to complete while they are in the class
and/or assist the teacher during the class.
Evaluation:
PACE:
Participation: Assess students' active involvement and engagement during
class activities.
Attitude: Evaluate students' attitudes towards physical activity,
teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Cooperation: Observe how well students collaborate and work with others
during group activities.
Effort (Ability): Consider students' individual effort and improvement in
various physical activities.
Assignments:
Students will be given worksheets for various classes to complete as they work
through the class. We will also be learning how to set a personal fitness goal and
at the end of the term, reflecting on whether or not that was achieved.
SELF EVALUATION:
Students will write a self evaluation of their overall performance and participation
duringthisclass. Notingareasofimprovementtheyseeinthemselvesandareas
which need improvement. The assessment will also reflect on their PACE -
participation, attitude, cooperation, effort, and readiness for the class each week.

Active Living Exploratory PACE Rubric
A PACE mark out of 5 will be given to the student’s daily.
CRITERIA
□ meets all of the requirements for a four and meets at least one
of the following exceptional qualities
□ answers questions consistently in class
□ volunteers for demonstrations
□ demonstrates strong leadership skills
□ anything else that the teacher deems exceptional
