Live TV Show Evaluation
The team worked well together as we did get the show done, during
the rehearsals we worked as a group on who was behind the camera
while others were presenting and vision mixing. Presenting with
someone else in the group helped to boost my confidence in
presenting as someone is there doing the same thing as you. While
people were presenting there was always someone giving a
countdown before going live to make sure the people presenting
knew when to start talking, so during rehearsal I think everyone
worked well together. Discussing what topics we were going to add
to our tv show went well because we had lots of different ideas and
we came up with the idea of a christmas show quite quickly. There
were a few different arguments as some dates got mixed up but as a
team we solved the issues. On the day of the live show the presenting
did get a little messed up as the autocue was slow and sometimes
we had to improvise on the spot but most of our team was good at
that.
One member of our group did not show up on the day so we had to
change some of the people presenting which in my opinion was a
good learning curve and it taught us that even when things don't go
to plan there are always solutions, and the member was there on
rehearsal so we all knew what segments she was presenting.
Sometimes we had to rush getting off camera and swapping places
but it went alright. My part in this production was researching and
planning the Save the Children charity, everyone wore christmas
jumpers to support the charity and I tried to email the charity itself
unfortunately they couldn't give me much information on it.I
presented the segment and talked about how the charity started
and how people can help. I also presented the opening of the show
with Madeline which taught me what it would actually be like to
present an opening to a live show. I did quite a lot of presenting
during the show as I also presented the food bank segment which
we had to improvise on. Next time I think that I would prepare more
by making a little backup script or maybe doing more research on
segments I am meant to be presenting in even if I wasn't assigned It.
However improvising even though it can feel scary at first isn't that
bad.I also had to do a countdown for everyone as they were all
presenting and I was speaking it so it picked up on the audio of the
show, so next time I would just use my hands to do a countdown.
Overall I think the show went well as our first time presenting and
getting a show together. I also learnt a lot creating this live show
with my team such as lighting which we had to get right so the
audience can see the presenters properly and to make sure the
lighting is not too dark.I learnt how to put a show together with a
group of people and it was interesting to listen to other people's
ideas. Doing this live show was also my first time presenting which at
first I felt a bit nervous to do but as the show went on it began to feel
more enjoyable and fun.We also create a tv show studio script for the
first time and we worked well as a team to create that as we all did
our own segment and create a script for that specific segment. Some
of our group also went out to slough to create vox pops and ask the
public about the cost of living crisis and how prices have gone up
this year so it was interesting to hear about how location filming
went.
