SELF EVALUATION
This is a short summary of aspects which you feel worked well and others which could be improved in your lesson.
Consider your lesson as a whole in terms of your teaching aims and learner outcomes. Also consider the specific
criteria we´re looking for at this stage of the course. Aim to complete this as soon after your lesson as possible.
Upon feedback and reflecting on your TP, what would you think are your action points for the next TP?
What evidence do you have from your TP?
Clarity of instructions and, in this case, the intro remains an area where I can continue improving, though it seems
to have mostly gone well this time. I ended up spending more time on clarifying meaning than planned, which led to
a slightly abbreviated DEC stage at the end. Unlike in past lessons, this time I had Ss practice pronunciation for
individual words rather than contextualized in sentences, and got good feedback to go back to contextualized
pronunciation in the future. My action points will be to avoid these same issues in my next lesson.
How are you planning to achieve the above action points? What suggestions did peers or tutor give?
My tutor give a suggestion on a lead-in activity that might have been a little clearer for Ss. I will carefully consider
future lead-ins to ensure the activities are not only engaging but also lend themselves to being understood easily.
What did you learn from watching your peers that you could implement and use in your future TP? How
would this relate to your action points above?
My peer added some slang to the list of lexis he taught, which the students clearly enjoyed. He also figured out a
workable solution for getting Ss to do an activity in pairs while split into separate breakout rooms and not knowing
in advance how many or which Ss would be present.
Thinking about your strengths, what strengths can you build upon in future TPs to continue improving
your practice?
I will continue to do thorough language analysis in advance to be well prepared for any questions or edge cases Ss
might have during lessons.
The lesson went smoothly and accomplished its major aims, and I made a concerted effort to teach MFP in a
student centered way. I also got a strong student to do a task demo together with me for the first time (based on
prior feedback from my tutor) and it went great. I abbreviated DEC more than I would have liked, but was still able
to cover several sentences (examples of good language, an error, and a reformulation).
