REPORT OF PROCEEDINGS
The University Student Government launched its set of activities and competitions for
the pioneer month of second semester, March 2023 entitled; Sports Fest 2023 with a theme,
‘’Honing Camaraderie and Teamwork; Creating Resilient Athletes in the New Normal’’ The
memorandum of activity was disseminated on the 19th day of February, 2023. The
aforementioned activity was composed of seven (7) simultaneous activities which are-
Basketball, Volleyball, Arnis, Sepak Takraw, Chess, Badminton, and Table Tennis.

On the 29th day of March, at 6:00 o’clock in the morning, the students have gathered
themselves at the Aroma Beach in Sta. Rosa, Mulanay, Quezon. The program was preceded
by a parade which was composed and participated by the six departments and was
accommodated with the PNP Mulanay. The parade was part of a task wherein there are three
stations for the students to perform their yell and dance performances. The first station was held
in Rotonda nearby the meeting place where the first judge, the USG President herself took part
of the first station. The next station was held at the King John’s restaurant with the USG Auditor
himself as the second judge. The last station was held at the campus’ quadrangle where the six
departments performed their yells and dance performances

The opening ceremony was formally started by the Master of Ceremony, the USG Vice
President, Mr. Jovertson E. Atienza. It was instituted with a doxology through Mr. Christian A.
Aurin followed by the singing of National Anthem, performed and initiated by Ms. Charlene
Grace C. Ferrer. The program was heated by the performance of the opening salvo which was
enacted by the ACES Club. The cauldron was enkindled by the respected guests together with
the six (6) department heads. For the continuation of the program, an opening remark was given
by the USG President herself, Ms. Jelyn F. Paras. Carrying on the program, his words of
wisdom were given by the Head of Student Services and Scholarship Programs, Mr. Carlos M.
Cribe. Furthermore, Ma’am Adelia R. Roadilla, the director, accosted her insights and
welcoming words on the aforementioned event. She then emphasized her gratitude towards the
success of the opening of the three-day event. Moreover, the respected PPSK Chairperson, Ms.
Edhille F. Lopez discoursed her motivational message as the event promotes wellness and
sportsmanship among the students. Despite the absence of the respected Mayor Aristotle
Aguirre, the Vice Mayor, Mr. Jay E. Castilleja himself expressed their utmost support among the
entire population of PUP Mulanay as the local government unit of Mulanay will continuously
collaborate and give a hand on the necessities of the university. On the latter part of the opening
program, the Pledge of Sportsmanship and his closing remarks was led by the USG Senator,
the Head of Sports and Development, Mr. James Russel E. De Guzman. Lastly, the different
sports category arose and energetically began.

On the second day of the three-day event, the athletic battle between sports team has
been carried on by the winning teams. The entire day has been filled with the eagerness of each
department to win and enthusiastically unveil their hidden skills and talents as the crowd
exhilarated to raise the players’ enthusiasm.

Moreover, on the last day of the Sports Fest 2023, the residual sports competition has
been continued and ended during the noon time of the 31 st day of March. During the evening of
the same day, the awards night and victory party of the aforementioned event was commenced
by the evening’s hosts, Mr. allan Lanon and Mr. Jovertson E. Atienza. It started with a doxology,
followed by the singing of the National Anthem and PUP Hymn headed by the ACES Club. For
the opening remark, the proponent of the event, Mr. James Russel E. De Guzman, spoke his
acknowledgement and appreciation on the success of the aforesaid event. To heat up the stage
a concert-like opening salvo was performed by Ms. Rhona May Regencia and Mr. Jovertson E.
Atienza. Prior to this, a message was given by the Head of Student Services and Scholarship
Programs, Mr. Carlos M. Cribe. Analogous to this, a motivational message was also given by
the Director, Dr. Adelia R. Roadilla, RGC and was also followed by a short message from the
Vice Mayor of Mulanay, Mr. Jay E. Castilleja.

On the midway of the program, the awarding ceremony began. The first sports category
is the chess competition whereas for the Board 1 (Girls), third place was garnered by the
PASOA department through Ms. Milky Joy Pantoja, second place acclaimed by the YES
department through Ms. Avegail Ausa, and for the first place, it was garnered by the ABS
department through Ms. Mariel V. Leviste. On the other hand, in Board 2 (girls), it was
announced that the TBO department through Ms. Aira Jane Mendua as the third place, the YES
department as the second place through MS. Josie Jean Macarang and the first place was
achieved by the ABS Department through Ms. Jelly B. Reño. Additionally, in Board 1 (boys), the
ITOMS Department garnered the third place through Mr. Rouelo Recto. The second place was
achieved by the PASOA Department through Mr. Johnzel Casinillo, and the first place was
achieved by the ABS department through Mr. Bernard Argao. Moreover, in Board 2(Boys
category), the third place was awarded to the TBO Department through Mr. Mark Lester Ramos.
The second place was achieved by the ITOMS department through Mr. Joshua Manalo and the
third place was garnered by the ABS Department through Mr. John Paul Jimenez. Furthermore,
the nexrt sports category to be announced was the badminton whereas in Badminton Single
(men), the PASOA department won the third place, the second place was achieved by the PAG
Department and the first place was achieved by the ABS Department. Meanwhile, in Badminton
Single (Women), ITOMS Department got the third place, PAG department on the second and
PASOA on the first place. Additionally, in Badminton Double (Men), the ITOMS department had
the third place, PASOA on the second and ABS on the first place. Moreover, in the Badminton
Double (Women), the PASOA had the third place, YES on the second and the ITOMS as the
first place. Furthermore, in Sepak Takraw, the ITOMS Department got the third place, YES as
the second and the ABS Department as the first place.

To unleash the boredom of the students, an intermission number was performed by Mr.
Jeffrey Requintel through his original and self-composed song followed by a performance from
the ACES Club. Moreover, the awarding for the winners in Table Tennis was announced. In
Table Tennis Single (Men), PASOA department got the third place; the ITOMS department got
the second and the ABS department as the first place. Meanwhile in Table Tennis Single
(women), the ITOMS got the third place, the PASOA Department got the second and the TBO

department got the first place. In Table Tennis Double (men), the ABS department got the third
place, the PASOA got the second and the YES Department got the first place. In Table Tennis
Double (women), the PASOA department got the third place, the ABS department got the
Second and the PAG Department got the first place. Additionally, in Arnis (B1), the TBO and
YES departments got the third place, the ABS Department got the second place and the PAG
department got the first place. In Arnis (B2), the ABS Department got the second place and the
TBO got the First place as they were the only departments who complied in this category. In
Arnis (B3), the ABS department got the third place, the PAG Department got the second and the
TBO department got the first place. In line with this, in Arnis (G1), the YES department got the
third place, the PAG department got the second and the TBO department got the first place.
Meanwhile, in Arnis (G2), the TBO department got the third place, the ABS Department got the
second and the PASOA got the first place. On the other hand, in Arnis (G3), the PASOA
department got the third place, the TBO got the second and the YES got the first place. As the
night went through, the announcement of Volleyball winners has been announced. In Volleyball
Boys, the TBO got the third place, the PAG Department got the second and the ABS got the first
place. Meanwhile in Volleyball Girls, the TBO department got the third place, the PASOA got the
second place and the ABS department got the first place. On the other hand, in Volleyball girls,
the TBO got the third place, the PASOA got the second and the PAG Department got the first
place. Lastly, in Basketball, it was announced that the ITOMS department got the third place,
the ABS department got the second and the YES department got the first place.

In line with this, in Yell competition, the TBO Department was announced to be in the
third place with 90.25%, the PASOA department got the second with 90.35% and the YES
department as the winner with a score of 93%. On the other hand, in dance competition, the
ABS department got the third place, the DPAG and PASOA departments got the second place
and the TBO department was announced as the winner. Furthermore, there are special awards
given to the players. The announced Mythical Five in Basketball were Mr. Aaala of ABS
department, Mr. Manalo of ITOMS department, Mr. Fontamillas and Menorca of YES
department, and MR. Cabrillas of PAG department. On the other hand, in Volleyball Male
Category, the Best Server was awarded to Mr. De Guzman of De Guzman of TBO Department,
the Best Blocker was awarded to Mr. Palmero of ABS department, and the Best Spiker was
awarded to Mr. Olveda of ABS Department. Additionally, the Athlete of the Year was awarded to
Mr. delas Alas of ABS Department. On the other hand, in Volleyball Female Category, the best
receiver was aawarded to Ms. Navarro of TBO department and Ms. Peñarubia of PASOA
department. The Best Spiker was given to Ms. Goyal of PAG department. Lastly, the Best
Server award was handed to Ms. Pelipada of TBO Department. In Over-all competition, the
TBO department got the second place, the PASOA Department got the first place and the ABS
Department was proclaimed to be the Grand Champion for the SPORTS FEST 2023.

In closing the program, the Head of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Mark Francis Forneste
expressed his insights on the success of the event. He then emphasized the active participation
of the students to the different aforementioned activities that greatly contributed to the success
and achievement of the set objectives.

The aforesaid event continued on the dance floor and ended on 10:30 o’clock in
the evening. The eagerness of each participant to win became a key component to make it
worthy and memorable. Thus, the SPORTS FEST 2023 undertaken by the Head of Sports and
Development, Senator James Russel E. De Guzman and supervised by the USG Officers was
concluded to be successful.

ACTIVITY EVALUATION SUMMARY

The PUP Mulanay Sport Fest 2023 was successfully done in three consecutive
days where student-athletes shows their skill, wits and sportsmanship to hone the
camaraderie and able to create teamwork for every individual in amidst of pandemic.

Moreover, the evaluation follows right after the event and concluded that 594
students are able to accomplish the evaluation form. From the total population, 21%
came from PASOA Department, 20.7% from ABS Department, 18% from TBO
Department, 15% from ITOMS, 13.1% from YES Department and 12.1% from DPAG
Department.

In terms of year level, coming from first year is most dominated with 32.5% of the
total respondents followed by second year with 28.5%, third year with 22.9% and from
fourth year with 16.2% total respondents.

Students become more active in celebrating the sport fest and able to perform
camaraderie and build teamwork. In addition, from the total respondents, 25.6% of the
respondents are players. However, 74.4% are audience who successfully shows their
support to their organizations that boosted self-confidence of players which can help to
perform better with their skills in playing different sports.

SURVEY EVALUATION INTERPRETATIONS

⮚ According to the PUPians, PUPM USG officers were approachable in answering


queries and very considerate to the suggestions of everyone regards with the
SPORTS FEST 2023 with 69.4% or showing excellent to all ISKO at ISKA from a
total respondents of the evaluation form of 594 students.

⮚ PUPians saw that the USG officers are knowledgeable about the over-all flow of the
program with 69.2% from 594 total respondents.

⮚ The PUPM USG well-disseminated the information to the students in an organized


manner with 67.3% of the total respondents.

⮚ The PUPM USG are prepared and posted publicity materials/posters (on their FB
Page) in an organized manner and utilized their resources to inform students about
the events with 76.3% of the respondents.

⮚ The event achieved its objective of celebrating physical sports contest event in
amidst of pandemic and achieved its objectives in boosting the confidence of
students and showing their wits in playing different sports with 78.1% and 77.6% of
the total respondents respectively.

⮚ The event answered the pillar no. 4 “holistic student development and engagement”
and pillar no. 8 “Synergetic, Productive, Strategic Networks and Partnership”
in showcasing talents, skills, strengths and sportsmanship in terms of competing in
friendly-game sports with 74.4% and 73.7% respectively of the total respondents.

⮚ According to an observers and PUPians, USG officers shows an excellent job in


facilitating the whole event with 70.7% of the total respondents.

⮚ PUPians evaluate the whole event as an excellent event based from their experince
throughout the event with 71.4% of the total respondents.
