    SPEAKING

    Part Task Type and Format Task Focus Timing


    1 - Introduction - Giving information of a 2-3 minutes
    + Candidates say some words about factual, personal kind.
    themselves. - The candidates respond to
    - Interview questions about present
    + Candidates answer some circumstances, past
    Examiner’s questions about hobbies, experiences and future
    works, routines… plans.
    2 - Speaking topic - Using appropriate 5 minutes
    + Candidates get one of the fourteen vocabulary, grammar
    topics and have 1 minutes correctly.
    + Candidates present the topic.

    PART 1 INTERVIEW

    Examiners will ask the candidate some questions

    PART 2 TALKING ABOUT THE TOPIC


    The candidate will draw one of the fourteen topics. He / She will have from one to
    two minutes to prepare the speech, and then speak in front of the
    examiners.
    Suggested speaking topics:

    Topic 1:
    Describe a place that you would like to visit.
    You should say:
    Where it is
    When you would like to go there
    Who you would like to go with
    And explain why you would like to visit this place.
    Topic 2:
    Describe a well-known person you like or admire
    You should say:
    1
    Who the person is
    What the person has done
    Why this person is well-known
    And explain why you admire this person.
    Topic 3:
    Speak about your eating habit.
    You should say:
    What your favourite food and drinks are
    Whether you prefer eating at home or in a restaurant
    What kinds of food you choose to eat that are good for your health.
    Topic 4:
    Speak about an interest or hobby that you particularly enjoy.
    You should say:
    What it is
    How long you have been doing it
    Who you do it with
    And explain why this is important to you.
    Topic 5:
    Describe your favorite book.
    You should say:
    What the title of the book is
    What kind of book it is?
    What it is about
    And explain why you enjoy the book.

    Topic 6:
    Talk about a house or an apartment you would like to live in.
    You should say:
    What it would look like
    How big it would be
    Where it would be located
    And explain why you would like to live there.
    Topic 7:
    Describe a traditional festival in Vietnam.
    You should say:
    What it is
    When it is celebrated

    How it is celebrated
    And say what you like and don't like about it.
    Topic 8:
    Describe a memorable event in your life.
    You should say:
    When the event took place
    Where the event took place
    What happened exactly
    And explain why this event was memorable for you.
    Topic 9:
    Speak about a friend you will never forget.
    You should say:
    Who he/she is
    What he/she is like
    How often you meet that person
    And explain why that person is a friend you will never forget.
    Topic 10:
    Describe one of your typical days.
    You should say:
    How you start your day
    How long you have been following this routine
    Your favourite time and activity of the day
    And say what you often do in a typical day of your life.

    Topic 11:
    Describe a subject you enjoyed at school or college.
    You should say:
    What the subject was
    How long you studied it
    What kind of topic the subject included?
    And tell what you liked most about this subject.
    Topic 12:
    Describe your favorite TV programme.
    You should say:
    What is the name of the programme
    What it is about
    How often you watch it

    And explain why you like it.
    Topic 13:
    Describe something you own which is very important to you.
    You should say:
    Where you got it
    How long you have had it
    What you use it for
    And explain why it is so important to you.
    Topic 14:
    Talk about the best holiday you ever had
    You should say:
    When and where you had it
    How you reached there
    What you did and with whom
    And explain why it’s so special.
