1.1 Coordinating Agencies

● Local Government Unit of Barangay Laiya Ibabao, San

Juan, Batangas
1.2 Project Location

● Laiya Ibabao, San Juan, Batangas

1.3 Project Beneficiaries

● Ten random families in Barangay Laiya Ibabao, San

Juan, Batangas

1.4 Project Cost

● The project will cost twenty thousand pesos, including

the materials and welding labor.

II.Rationale

Laiya Ibabao, San Juan, Batangas is one of the

communities that often experiences power interruptions because of
the monthly or even weekly maintenance of the transformers. Re-
installation of the transformer is especially at beach resorts.
Installation of distribution lines in different areas of Laiya Ibabao.
Thus, Laiya Ibabao was truly experiencing frequent loss of electricity.
In addition, barangay Laiya Ibabao, was also a passage of typhoons,
which causes tremendous damage in the barangay every time that
typhoons strike. This includes, fallen trees wreaked havoc on
properties like electric and communication posts, making it hard for
the power firm to restore electricity and communication lines
immediately.BATANGAS

great idea to develop an
alternative power source entitled

Sustainable portable hydroelectric generator: Water supply

into electricity output.

A sustainable portable hydroelectric generator that converts

water supply into electricity output is an alternative source of
electricity in case of emergency. This project aims to use electricity
without causing any pollution to our environment. This project propose
is to provide an alternative electric source by using water to help the
resident who's always experiencing loss of electricity due to natural
disasters or maintenance. This project aims to provide secondary
electricity in the absence of the primary source of electrical in
Barangay Laiya Ibabao, San Juan, Batangas. To generate an
electricity, the water coming from the main source will go through the
prime mover. The prime mover has a pulley which is also connected
to another pulley. The pulley should be able to transfer the rotational
force from the prime mover to generator. Connect the generator to a
battery or load. The electricity produced by the generator can be
stored in a battery or used to power devices directly.

This project - Sustainable Portable Hydroelectric Generator

that turns water current into electricity output was designed and
developed to provide alternative power source. This project will help
Laiya Ibabao, San Juan, Batangas to have a substitute power source
in times of power interruptions especially when there is a typhoon that
might cause more than a day power interruption. This aims to solve
the minor problems including the few power interruptions and also it
will help to lessen the carbon dioxide emission at the earth’s
atmosphere. The group have come up with a solution to make

source of energy. This will Engineering University
serve as a benefit to all the citizens of
Brgy. Laiya Ibabao and to its environment.

III. General Objective:

Our general objective is to develop a sustainable portable

hydroelectric generator that could improve the quality of life for communities
by providing them with a reliable and sustainable source of electricity that
can be easily transported and deployed in a variety of locations.

Specific Objectives:

● The objective of developing a sustainable portable

hydroelectric generator would be to provide a reliable and
sustainable source of electricity that can be easily transported
and deployed in remote or off-grid locations. This could include
areas that are prone to natural disasters or that lack access to
traditional power sources.

● In addition, a portable hydroelectric generator could also have

economic benefits for communities that lack access to
traditional power sources. It could provide a source of income
through the sale of excess electricity to neighboring
communities, or it could be used to power small businesses
and agricultural activities that rely on electricity.

IV. History of the Barangay

The word LAIYA is said to be derived from a word that means

"FREEDOM". It is said that this place was used as a meeting place for
people from the Japanese occupation and abuse in the forties; a place
where they found freedom from foreigners.

Over time, because more and more people want to find a

FREEDOM, a foreigner comes and asks, where is "KA LAIYA"? Until the
customary pronunciation of LAIYA, until the two SPANISH had a RIVALRY,
who owned the entire land of KA LAIYA, it was not explained if the said

VII. ALIGNMENT IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

 Affordable and clean energy

The Sustainable Portable Hydroelectric Generator aligns

closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on
Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) for several compelling reasons.
Firstly, as a renewable energy source, this generator taps into the power of
flowing water, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable energy mix. Its
low environmental impact, in terms of minimal greenhouse gas emissions
during

electricity generation, supports the SDG 7 objective of ensuring access to

affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

 Climate action

Portable Hydroelectric Generator provide a clean, renewable

energy source, which is vital in the fight against climate change. The
production of hydroelectric electricity does not result in a major output of
greenhouse gases, in contrast to conventional energy sources like fossil
fuels. These generators lessen reliance on carbon-intensive energy sources
by using the kinetic energy of flowing water, which is in line with SDG 13's
main goal of taking immediate action to reduce the effects of climate change
.
 Good health and well-being

Shift towards sustainable energy sources like portable

hydroelectric generators helps reduce indoor air pollution. In remote, off-
grid or brownout prone areas like Laiya Ibabao , use traditional energy
sources such as biomass or kerosene which contribute to indoor air
pollution, leading to respiratory diseases and other health issues. The
adoption of clean energy alternatives aligns with SDG 3's aim to ensure
healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.

 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

The development and deployment of these Portable

Hydroelectric Generator reflects an innovative approach to energy solutions,
contributing to the advancement of sustainable technologies. The
development and utilization of portable hydroelectric generators represent a
form of innovation in the energy sector, aligning with SDG 9's goal of
fostering inclusive and sustainable industrialization.

 Responsible consumption and production

Also, in line with the objective of guaranteeing responsible

resource consumption, the Portable Hydroelectric Generator is an excellent
instance of a sustainable energy solution. This type of electricity source
offers a greener and more sustainable substitute for traditional sources of
energy by utilizing the energy of flowing water, a renewable resource that
promotes responsible energy use.
