Pamela’s Diary
Monday
I learned some new stuff about by friend Mariama today. We were in the sports hall
doing some (36)_____, and I asked her if she wanted to be chosen for the County
Team in that sport. She told me that she wants to go to Dakar and win a gold medal
for her work on the (37)_____, just like one of her heroes.
Apparently, it is particularly important for Mariama, because some of her family,
especially her (38)_____ come from Senegal (where Dakar is), and she thinks of
herself as Senegalese. I didn’t know that, although I’ve found out since that Mariama
is a traditional Senegalese name. Mind you, she did say that she wants to be a part of
the (39)_____.
I asked her who she supports when our countries play each other at football.
Apparently, she has something in each hand, an (40) _____ in her left. I wonder if
that is significant?
