Using the Principles of Effective Speech Writing
I. Learning Competency
Use principles of effective speech writing focusing on audience profile, logical
organization, duration, word choice, and grammatical correctness.
(Subtask: Using the principles of speech writing focusing on audience profile and
logical organization)

II. Background Information for Learners

Writing, as one of the verbal modes of communication, offers a way to
immortalize noble ideas of the human mind and spirit. Indeed, through this skill, the
permanence of thoughts and ideas is possible. It takes an important role in
communicative endeavors of man most especially in the academe.
Writing involves the utilization of printed symbols of a language form and carry
meaningful verbal messages. It is a communicative skill categorized as a
“productive/expressive skill” similar to speaking. Not everyone knows how to write.
Thus, this provides a perception that writing is not an acquired type of skill but a
“learned skill” since formal training is needed so that one can know how to facilitate the
skills.
Aside from audience profile and logical organization as principles for effective
writing, there are other important principles to consider. Among these are word choice,
duration of speech, and grammatical correctness.
Word choice is very important to make your write-up better and engaging. It is an
important part of any type of writing. Selecting correct and precise words will have an
impact on your speech writing as these will create vivid images in your reader’s mind
especially when they appeal to the senses.
Duration of speech on the other hand will solely depend on the purpose of
writing. Engaging opening, a relevant body content, and a powerful conclusion are
important things to consider.
Last important principle is the correctness of grammar. Correctness in grammar
eliminates negative impact on the audience and increases the credibility and
effectiveness of the message.

Pride and Prejudice Vs Patience
and Faith

by: Arbie Palmos

We believe that each person is
not the same with others yet we
got the same standards to
everyone. We believe that an
individual differs from other
person yet we scorn those who
cant do what others can achieve
easily. Are we hypocrite? Are we
fair? Or are we just ignorant to
the fact blinded by our prejudice
that we cannot see inside each
other people, to see the truth in
them… the good. Instead, we
bask in delight in their failures
accustomed to the idea that
whenever a person fails, we
succeed, we are their betters.

In my short 18 years of here on

earth, I have come to learn that
there is no evil one they do
things for a reason, nor for the
pleasure of afflicting pain. In
academics, I have also come to
understand that there is no such
thing as a stupid student only if
we didn’t judge them. A lot of
students get low marks because
of their failure to understand the
lesson, and when they finally
begin to catch up, the lesson
becomes harder and harder.

If I were a mere teacher, I would

be happy to fail a student who
barely makes an effort to attend
his class on time. But there must
be a reason why students do
this.

A kid like me needs a supportive

and inspiring teacher that would
pull from the threshold of giving
up and to make me feel that I
have the capacity to change and
learn. Honestly, every time I skip
class and fail to understand I
shudder in shame. But I do have
passion for learning . I want to
understand and be filled with
knowledge. I am like a candle, I
need a lighter on my wick and
along with what people do with
candles, have faith in.
