CONCEPT

• Despite being a box or a container for

functions, the richness in the simple use
of materials transforms it into a kind of
Pandora’s Box in reverse, out of which
come the most beautiful things that
transform the least beautiful women in
the kingdom of Korea.
• A sense of movement within spatial
boundaries creates beauty on a campus
for a cosmetic brand
ORIENTATION

The building is oriented in N-S direction to It is an inward looking plan , where all the
avoid harsh sunlight. buildings are facing the open garden space at
the centre and acts as a gathering space.

RESEARCH AND DESIGN CENTER
MASSING :
• Each floor of the R and D center is designed differently allowing more light and ventilation into each of the
spaces.

• The building has the solid volumes and and are interrupted by the deep canyons with the contrasting
colours of white square slabs of white marble.

• Landscaping has played an important role in the design.

MATERIALS
• The base; the building which forms the base is clad with
slabs of slightly rough black granite.
• Over this building there is a partially landscaped terrace
where the confluence of pathways and the separation of that
which is on the ground and that which is suspended in
cantilevers occurs.
• The volume of the laboratories is almost entirely clad in a
double skin glazed screen on a metal structure.
• The faces and details vary between zinc and white marble,
differentiating between spaces and also between functions.
• With two stories and in the form of a “U”, the organisation is
simple.
• Brick, exposed concrete and timber and stainless steel door
and window frames characterize the exteriors.
• The volume spreads out amidst the greenery outside.
MATERIALS
• Double skin glazed screen on a metal structure
• This space (which can vary from 20 cm to a few
meters) acts as insulation against extreme
temperatures, winds, and sound
• While the concept of double-skin façades is
not new, there is a growing tendency for
architects and engineers to use them.
• thermal and auditory comfort, reduced air
conditioning costs, and elimination of the need
Cold air for window-specific technologies.
Hot air
LANDSCAPING
• External Landscaping:
As if dealing with a ball of twine out of which we pull a piece and find it to
be never ending, the external landscaping is a consequence of the buildings
and the necessary moulding of the ground where the intervention has
occurred. A site surrounded by lavish vegetation that through continuous
transplanting transforms and renews itself. Like plastic surgery on an ageing
body.
Men think, the work advances, optimism prevails. Interior Courtyards absorb the heat
and maintain the temperature inside
the building.

climate.
Conclusion
• The building facade is punctured to create solid and void
spaces and some of the void spaces are made interesting by
adding landscaping.
• Most of the building facade oriented in the north - south
direction to avoid harsh sun light.
• The different blocks connected through one main access and
all blocks are facing towards central garden space.
• The vertical circulation is provided at four corners for easy
circulation to accessing different places.
• Efficient use of materials such as double glazed facade is
used.
