SOLID MODELING AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Annexure-2
Actual micro project.

 Rationale
Solid modeling is the most advanced method method of geometric
modeling in three dimensions. The main purpose of engineering
drawing is to communicate to other engineers, machinists, etc. To
create a 3D feature assemblies of relative components. Just as you
can combine feature into parts, you can also combine parts into
assemblies. Any modeling parametric CAD software enable you to
place components parts and subassemblies together to from
assemblies.

 Aim of Micro Project

To draw the 2D sketches using workbench
To develop solid models From 2d Drawing

 Course Outcome Addressed:-

a) Generate 3D solid models from 2D sketch using part work
bench of any parametric CAD software.
b) 2. Prepare assembly of model using assembly workbench of any
parametric CAD Software

 Literature Review.

 Actual methodology Followed:

step 01
First open the software creo parametric. And set the working directory

Step 02
Open “NEW” folder and select part workbench and unmark on default
templates and rename the file as gare and click “OK”

.

Step 03
Select “MMNS_PART_SOLID” solid and click “OK”

Step 04
Now select the “FRONT PLANE” for sketch

Step 05
Select on “FRONT” view and start to sketch

Step 06
Use “PALATTE” Tool to draw Hexagon. Select the Hexagon
symbol and drag it to centre of Plane.

Step 07
Give the Dimension of Hexagonal. That is 50 mm

Step 08
Click on “OK” and finish sketch

Step 09

After, given the dimension Extrude the part by EXTRUDE

Command. Then Click on Done.

Step 10
Click “OK” and finish extrude

Step 11
Select “Front view” and select “Sketch and draw circle equivalent to inner
circle .

We get the accurate Size of NUT. Click on Sketch option and Select the HELICAL
SWEEP command & take the references. And select the RIGHT to Sketch.

Step 12

For finish the Edge of NUT, draw the Triagle by using LINE tool at
the top of the Right side.

Step 13
After that by using MIRROR command Finish the both side of NUT

By using HELICAL SWEEP command draw the Internal threads of NUT by given Pitch. Finally,
We get the NUT with actual dimension and save the file

Outputs of Micro Project

We understood various sketchers commands
We understood on part work bench
We understood assembly command

Skill Development
1. Drawing the 2D drawing in Proe Software
2. Drawing and develop 3D components in Proe Software
3. Assembling the Components in Assembling Workbench
4. Placing components in assembly.
5. Applying component references to fully constrained components

Application of Micro Project

Solid modeling is used not only for creating solid models of machine parts,
but also the buildings, electric circuits and even of the human beings. The
solid modeling software are being used for a large variety of applications,
here are some of them:

Engineering: The engineering design professionals use solid modeling to

see how the designed product will actually look like. The architects and civil
engineers use it to use the layout of the designed building.
