CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter explained all of the methodologies utilized in analyzing and gathering

the data needed for this paper. This includes the research locale, research design, the

type of sampling technique applied; which all contributed in discerning whether people

are satisfied or dissatisfied with the online shopping service Shopee provides.

Research Design

The researchers will use Quantitative Research wherein the researchers will

analyze the numerical data given with set formulas. According to Bhandari (2020),

quantitative research are findings collected and analyzed that are presented in numerical

form. The researchers will do this method by making a summary of the data and that

includes measures of averages and variability. This study can be made with the help of a

Survey questionnaire, which will gather the data that will be needed. A survey in

quantitative research is a set of questions, usually with fixed responses, that will be

presented to a larger group of samples, a much bigger number than in qualitative

research. (Hellevik, 2019)

Research Locale

The study will be conducted in Our Lady of Fatima University–Valenzuela Campus

wherein the respondents will be the Grade 12 Senior High School students of the said

University because it is convenient for the researchers. Also, we will take respondents

from any strand, as long as they are eligible and consenting to answer the questions the
researchers will ask. In this way, we can ensure that the data collected will be sufficient

for the study.

Research Ethics

The researchers are well-aware that they are responsible for the confidentiality of

their respondents’ answers. This is why we are going to explain to the samples chosen

that whatever information they share is confidential, and will not spread to others. Also,

we will not force people to answer our questions, and they have the right to decline when

we approach or ask for their permission to collect data from them. There will be a consent

form given to the respondents, to ensure that the data they will impart to us are

confidential, and are freely given to the researchers through the respondents’ own choice.

This information will remain between the researchers and respondents only.

The researchers also ensured that the data gathered and analyzed will have no

issues regarding plagiarism. They used citations to credit the original authors when

references were used in the paper.

Lastly, basic moral ethics were implemented with this research paper. The

researchers always looked after their words, so that nothing would be able to hurt the

respondent physically, mentally, or emotionally. They also did not use words that are

harmful or biased towards any person when making the survey questionnaires.
Population and Sampling Technique

A simple random technique is employed to analyze the survey participants at

random. In order to avoid favoritism toward the respondents or the undesirable effects of

the study, respondents were picked randomly. As the name suggests, this is the simplest

method of probability sampling, where samples were picked with each having an equal

chance of being selected (Thomas, 2020). This was used in our study to identify possible

participants who could provide us with experience into their online purchasing

experiences.

There will be one hundred random people that will be chosen as respondents in

this research. They will have to fulfill a criteria. These criteria will determine whether they

are eligible to participate in the research. The following will ascertain if the respondents

will be able to partake in the study: they have to be a Grade 12 Student of Our Lady of

Fatima University–Valenzuela City Campus, of any strand, and have used Shopee at

least once.

Research Instruments

The researchers will use a survey questionnaire as the research instrument for this

study. According to (Check & Schutt, 2012, p. 160) survey research is where a set group

of respondents or samples from a population answer pre-made questions with information

that will be collected by the researchers . The researchers made sure that the survey

questions were comfortable to fill out and reliable. The survey questionnaire is composed

of questions that are connected to the main objectives of this study, which is, to find out
'the Level of Costumer's satisfaction on the online shopping app Shopee. The reliability

of the survey questionnaire was confirmed by the researchers through analysis of the

pertinent questions.

Data Gathering

The research used a Quantitative Research Design, which focuses more on

numerical data. To gather information, the researchers needed to find respondents, in

this case, OLFU Grade 12 Students, who would fill a set criteria. Afterwards, they will be

presented with a consent form, with which they are required to read and approve before

answering the survey questionnaire. The data from selected and eligible participants will

serve as information to be used and analyzed quantitatively based on the level of

consumer satisfaction in online transactions. As stated, information will be obtained using

a survey questionnaire that respondents need to respond honestly.

Data Analysis

The researchers used Descriptive Statistics that provides a simple description and

summary about the data that has been gathered from the one hundred respondents. In

order to further interpret the data, they also used a set formula and a graphical

representation.

This study, since it focuses on the topic of level of customer satisfaction of Shopee

users in the Grade 12 Students of Our Lady of Fatima University–Valenzuela Campus,

uses a pie graph and the percentage formula: % of respondents= F/n * 100, where

F=number of answers in a question

n=number of respondents
