6 Circular Strokes

Hello friends,
Today, in this tutoral, we will learn the second type of strokes, that
is, the Circular strokes. Aer learning the tapered stroke, the circular
stroke helps to bring extreme detail, fine work and for repairing
mistakes in shading smartly.
As the name suggests, Circular strokes are done in a circular
direcon. The main purpose of this stroke is to learn how to work in
detail. Many of us want to learn how to bring life in any pencil work.
The fact is, that to bring realism, we need to zoom our eyes into the
details. Circular strokes helps in making uneven patches even in
such a way which gives a smooth effect without smudging. It fills the
texture of the paper with graphite, the white spaces or gaps formed
during rendering and in repairing the uneven dark patches or spots.
It is a secondary stroke when compared with the Tapered Stroke
that we learnt before this yet, it is essenal to learn this technique.

CIRCULAR STROKES
Why is it Important to Master this skill?
In Circular strokes, the stroke needs to be in round direcon. The
advantage of mastering this stroke is that there will be uniformity in
texture size throughout the artwork.
We insist to bring the “grainer” look in the artworks using the
Tapered stroke. But the actual impact will be seen when each pore
of the texture is filled with graphite.

Let’s Get Started!
Step 1:
Make uneven patches on your sheet using B pencil. Do not apply any
pressure on the paper. The intenon is to create dark and light
patches and some white spaces.

Step 2:
How do you repair them? The direcon of this stroke is circular. So
use these round strokes with the same B pencil to fill the white gaps
first adjusng it with the surrounding shade.

Step 3:
Aer that, you will see light and dark areas. Do not touch the dark
areas at all, to make it even, we will rendering and add layers in the
lighter areas so that it matches the dark areas. Make sure the texture
is filled properly and evenly.

Step 4:
Aer you see an “even grain” look, we are almost done. You can use
the brush lightly. Do no use the brush too much. A Brush helps in
Bringing smoothness. It is not for smudging and not to use brush
frequently.

And this is how it looks like. In the end, make sure you pracse this.
It will help you in repairing common errors that we tend to make
while rendering or shading artworks.

It does not take long to master this but pracsing this is essenal.
Creang uniform layer is challenging.
