Hydrotest Procedure For Tank
Hydrotest Procedure For Tank
Hydrotest Procedure For Tank
BACKGROUND:
Diesel Oil tank 103 T&I is completed and need to be hydro-tested the following is the
procedure for the filling, hydro-testing and water transfer from/to Tank 106.
The following procedure describe steps needed to transfer water from Fire Water Tank
106 to Tank 103 for hydro test and then transfer the water back to Fire water Tank 106
after hydro test completed.
Note: The New Truck loading foam skid should not be activated when all fire
pumps include jockey pumps put in manual mode as there is a check valve
on the inlet fire water line (10”-FW-0634-12lC0U) (upstream the deluge
valves to avoid pressure drop between the check valve and the TL& new
product pumps deluges as shown in the attached drawing. the system will
activated if the check valve is passing.
1. The fire water tank T-106 will remain in service with level 2 meter to supply
water for fire fighting pumps to the fire water system.
2. The procedure should be explained and understand be all concerned parties
including NJBP Operation/ fire protection department and maintenance.
3. The usage of water at Tank 106 should be restricted to emergency only until the
hydtrotest completed.
4. In case of emergency fire water pumps should start immediately.
5. In case of emergence isolation valve of tank 103 should be opened to supply the
pumps with water.
1. Make necessary and advanced arrangement with Fire protection unit at NJBP and
Loss Prevention rep.
2. Prior start water transfer the material/ contractor and maintenance crew should be
ready and available on call.
3. Close Tank 103 outlet/inlet/water drain valves and sample valves with hold Tags.
4. Blind 20" temporary fire line southern of tank 103.
5. Open Tank 106 valve F-05 outlet.
Procedure:
1. Open return line valves for pumps 116 A/B located on 10 EFW1565F and
10EFW1566F
2. Close 10" discharge gate valves for electric pumps 116 A,B located on
10EFW1416F and 10EFW1417F.
Calculations
Total flow rate for the electrical firewater pump:
Flow Rate = 2000 GMP = 62 BBL/M
The estimated required water quantity will be 80% of 500,000 BBL = 400,000
BBL
So, if using one electrical or one diesel engine fire water pump:
Time = 400000 BBL/62 BBL/M = 6451 M /60 M/H = 107.5 Hours = 4.5 Days
