EVT Yahoo Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eastvalleytransition/ We are all gradually transitioning to a lower carbon, lower energy, more localized life, whether it's spurred by conscious desire or declining economy. Transition Movement is about creating a community approach to meeting these issues by sharing, cooperating and celebrating the opportunities instead of being afraid of the constraints. The goal of East Valley Transition is to spark these creative interactions and become a link for the ones already there. The EVT September monthly meeting at the Chandler Sunset Library saw lots of new faces and welcomed new members! This was a great opportunity to get to know others in the community who share a desire to transition to a more resilient, localized lifestyle. Nayeema shared a presentation on peak oil, Martine discussed holistic health, and Cris introduced the new Rio Salado Permaculture Guild. Thanks to everyone that attended. The Moving Planet event on Saturday, September 24 ASU and AZIPL (AZ Interfaith Power and Light) organized a Moving Planet rally on the ASU campus to move us away from fossil fuel and pollution to renewable energies. The event kicked off ASUs No Impact Week. A lot was packed into a 3-hour event: a documentary by Bill McKibben A Link Between Climate Change and Extreme Weather? Never!, a walk around the campus to centers of worship of different faiths, stories by people involved in climate/social justice, and lunch! The Gaden Jangste Tibetan Monks will be at Superstition Farm on October 9th. Requested donations and more info at Superstition Farms.
