Conclusion

Police brutality is a widespread and significant problem that has an large impact on communities
all around the country of Belize. Police violence done by law enforcement officials can take
many forms, such as torture, extrajudicial killings, and physical, verbal, and psychological abuse.
Police brutality frequently has an outsized negative effect on communities that are already at risk
or disadvantaged.
The proposed study intends to advance our understanding of police brutality while looking into
how it affects groups of people, families, and individuals. With the help of this study, we seek to
shed light on the reasons for police brutality and pinpoint practical countermeasures.
In order to solve the problem of police brutality, a comprehensive strategy emphasizing
responsibility, honesty, and public confidence in Belizean law enforcement is required. Laws,
policies and interventions should be implemented to ensure officers are held responsible for their
acts. Law enforcement and the community must also collaborate in order to define and address
problems with crime and disorder, with contemporary community policing strategies taking the
place of classic policing techniques.
The proposed research's emphasis on the effects of police violence on families and communities
is an important component. We are aware that police brutality in Belize can have adverse effects
on communities as a whole in addition to its immediate effects on the victim, including physical
pain, psychological anguish, and increased distrust and divisiveness. In order to improve
community trust and safety, it is necessary to acknowledge the trauma endured by the families of
police violence victims and to promote structural change.
The focus of the suggested research on addressing the underlying causes of police brutality is
another crucial feature. We acknowledge that the pervasiveness of police brutality is a result of
systemic problems like racism and inequality. In order to identify effective/practical solutions to
address them, the research will look into these fundamental issues.
The proposed research will use a mixed methods approach that will involve both quantitative and
qualitative data collection and analysis conducted through a questionnaire. The data acquired will
come from the viewpoint of University of Belize students. There will be 17 questions in this
questionnaire that are all centred on the research topic. Belizean’s life and how police brutality
affects them will be the main questions being focused on. The questionnaire option best fits the
study because it will provide reliable, up-to-date primary data.
We want to significantly advance the study of police brutality through the proposed research by
presenting a thorough analysis of the problem and offering effective/practical solutions. The
results of this study can be utilized to form new laws and other initiatives that increase
community safety while reducing instances of police brutality that is present in Belize.
The effects of police brutality on Belizean citizens, families, and communities are widespread.
The idea that police are predominantly prejudiced and unconcerned with people's ages, mental
health problems, or traumatizing experiences for families and communities only serves to
highlight the pressing need for police reform. Police officers must be trained to handle various
situations professionally and empathetically, as seen by the overrepresentation of white people in
the police force and the disregard for ageing and mental health problems.
Police brutality tremendously affects families and communities since it can lead to physical
harm, psychological anguish, and increased mistrust and rifts within them. In order to stop such
instances of police violence and make all communities safer and more just, it is crucial to address
the core causes of police brutality, including institutional racism and prejudice.
In conclusion, the proposed research on police brutality intends to significantly advance the area
by offering a thorough understanding of this problem and developing practical preventative and
remedial measures in order to control police brutality present in our country Belize. With the
help of this study, we seek to increase public safety, foster more community, and police trust, and
build a more fair and just society for all. We can build compassionate communities that
encourage change and ensure genuine public safety by cooperating with one another.
