IFI NOTES:

1. ASME 818. 6.X Is a standard under development through the proce-

dures of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, under the
jurisdiction of Standards Committee 818 and specifically Subcom-
mittee 6.

I 2. This draft standard is intended to rep/ace ANSIIASME 818.17 which

was initially published in February of 1968. Subsequently it was
reaffirmed and for the last time in 1983. It was dropped as a stan-
dard in April of 1993. In May of 1999 it was discussed by Subcom-
mittee 6 of 818 and agreed that a new document should be drafted
based on the apparent usage of these products.
3. ASME B1B.6.X includes requirements for thumb screws and wing
screws as well as wing nuts. The standards for thumb and wing
screws are presented in Section J of this book.
4. Users of this standard should be aware that this presentation is in
draft form and expected to be further revised prior to Committee
approval. Please consult with the 818 ASME Secretary for current
draft status at: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers,
Three Park Avenue, New York, NY 10016-5990, U.S.A.
