Problem

As civilization continues to advance, so does our concern for the environment. One significant
threat to the environment is the disposal and production of traditional electrical materials, which
contribute to pollution and increased carbon emissions. In particular, our study aims to focus on
electrical conduits and ducts as a specific material of concern. By addressing the impact of these
materials, we can take an important step towards mitigating their negative effects on the environment.

Objectives

 To evaluate the feasibility of using recycled plastic and banana fiber to create a composite
material for electrical conduits and ducts.
 To investigate the mechanical and physical properties of the composite material
1. Strength,
2. Durability, and
3. insulation properties.
 To determine the potential applications for the composite material in the electrical industry, and
to identify any limitations or challenges for its use.

Related Study

A study by Lee and Moon titled “Green Innovation in Electrical Conduits and Ducts
Manufacturing", examines the potential for green innovation in the production of electrical conduits and
ducts, such as using renewable energy sources or incorporating recycled materials. It evaluates the
economic and environmental benefits of these innovations and identifies barriers to their adoption.

The study "Natural fiber reinforced composites: Sustainable materials for emerging applications"
by Jawaid et al. (2015) explores the use of natural fibers as reinforcement materials for composites in
various emerging applications. The authors highlight the benefits of using natural fibers, such as their
renewability, biodegradability, and low cost, compared to traditional synthetic fibers. The study
examines the mechanical properties, thermal stability, and water absorption behavior of natural fiber
reinforced composites, and also discusses the various processing techniques used to manufacture these
composites. The authors conclude that natural fiber reinforced composites have great potential as
sustainable materials for use in a wide range of emerging applications.

"Enhancing Energy Harvesting Efficiency of Piezoelectric Transducers from Sound Vibrations for
Sustainable Power Generation"

Problem:

The increasing demand for sustainable and autonomous power sources has spurred interest in energy
harvesting technologies. However, the efficiency of piezoelectric transducers in converting sound
vibrations into usable electrical energy remains a challenge. Current approaches often struggle to match
the resonant frequencies of ambient sound, resulting in suboptimal energy conversion rates.
Additionally, the energy density of harvested power is typically insufficient to support many practical
applications. This research seeks to address these challenges and optimize the energy harvesting
potential of piezoelectric transducers from sound vibrations.

Statement of the Problem:

The primary issue addressed in this research is the limited efficiency and energy density of piezoelectric
transducers when converting sound vibrations into electrical energy. There is a need to develop
innovative techniques that can improve the resonance matching between transducers and ambient
sound frequencies, as well as enhance the overall energy conversion efficiency. Additionally, finding
methods to effectively manage and store the harvested energy is crucial for making this technology
practical and applicable in various real-world scenarios.
Title: Exploring Gravity-Driven Generators for Sustainable Energy Generation

Problem

As global energy demand continues to rise and concerns about environmental sustainability grow, there
is a need for innovative and efficient methods of energy generation. While renewable energy sources
like solar and wind have gained significant attention, the potential of utilizing gravity as a source of
energy remains underexplored. This research aims to investigate the feasibility, efficiency, and
environmental impact of gravity-driven generators as a viable solution for sustainable energy
production.

Statement of the Problem:

The primary problem addressed by this research is the limited utilization of gravity-driven generators
despite their potential to contribute to the global renewable energy mix. There is a lack of
comprehensive understanding regarding the various mechanisms through which gravity can be
harnessed, the technological challenges associated with these mechanisms, and the comparative
advantages of gravity-based energy generation over other renewable sources.
Title: Ocean Wave Energy Converter

This research is driven by the urgent concern of the Philippines facing a scarcity of
localized renewable energy sources. The country is uniquely surrounded by vast oceans. With a
specific focus on capturing the power of tidal waves, the researchers’ goal is to create technology
that's both effective and eco-friendly, tailored to the Philippines' coastal conditions. The
overarching aim of this research is to not only utilize the abundant tidal wave resources available
but also to play a part in decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels. This, in turn, would help protect
the environment and promote sustainable growth in the field of energy.

Objectives
1. Design and Development: Develop a novel tidal wave energy converter design that is
tailored to the coastal conditions and wave patterns of the Philippines, maximizing
energy capture and conversion efficiency.
2. Investigate and optimize the mechanical and hydraulic components of the tidal wave
energy converter to enhance the overall energy conversion efficiency, minimizing losses
and maximizing electricity generation.
3. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the potential environmental impacts of the
proposed tidal wave energy converter, considering factors such as marine ecology,
coastal erosion, and propose mitigation strategies.
4. Construct a scaled prototype of the tidal wave energy converter and conduct testing in
controlled environments, validating its efficiency and performance under varying wave
conditions.
