Exam 2

A key aspect of program evaluation in the data collection phase is the

recommendation to identify the sources of data and to use different
sources to answer each of the evaluative questions formulated.
Regardless of the type of program, evaluators should strive to use
multiple measurements from more than one source. In selecting
these multiple measurements, it is especially important to select
measurements that are not likely to share the same biases. For
example, people who operate the program could be interviewed for
their subjective assessment of the program and an objective
measure, such as an opinion scale, could be applied to program
participants. The use of multiple sources of information is one of the
basic characteristics of valid and useful evaluations.
The argument for the use of different sources of information proposed
in the case was that it was desired to have a "plural vision, consulting
the different levels of the educational community involved in the day-
to-day running of the schools. That is why we have asked for the
participation and opinion of management, teachers, students and
families. "The above means what?

Select one:
The aim was to detect agreements and disagreements among
program stakeholders.

A scientific evaluation was to be made.

The sources of information could be others.

When accessing m
Incorporating stakeholders during evaluation planning and
implementation can add value because:
 They provide different perspectives on what will be considered
credible, high quality and useful in an evaluation.
 They contribute to the identification of key evaluation
questions.
 They facilitate the quality of data collection.
 They help to make sense of the data that have been collected.
 Increase utilization of evaluation findings.
What do you understand by "Contribute to the identification of key
questions"?
Based on the Evaluation Process, January 2019, presentation provided by UTEL, the
stakeholders, which in the case are those people who care about what they will
learn from the evaluation and what can be done with the knowledge obtained, such
as:
* people with special interests.
* all those involved.
* the collaborators.
* the people affected by the program.
* those responsible.
All stakeholders contribute directly and indirectly to the identification of key evaluation
questions, since each one, from his or her position within the structure, be it
manager, teacher, student or family, has a different perspective, where the
evaluators will find the key questions in order to obtain a more effective, more real
final result, more in line with the reality of what was intended to be obtained with the
program. The evaluators will find the key questions in order to obtain a more
effective and real final result, more in line with the reality of what was intended to
be obtained with the program.
Now, to give a concrete answer to the question What do I mean by "Contribute to the
identification of key questions"? Well, what I can understand is that the evaluators
design the questions depending on what they want to obtain from each type of
stakeholder that makes up the program.
In this case, when it is mentioned that a "plural vision" was desired, what was
sought was to have different perspectives on the program. Explain why this
pluralistic perspective is desirable in the evaluation of a program?
The pluralistic perspective of program evaluation, according to the case study, is when
the different stakeholder groups are addressed, i.e., the people involved, the
people affected and the people who will use the results. It is convenient to know the
perspective, what each participant expects from where he/she is or what group
he/she is in, so that the evaluation can be more objective, more effective, more
specific, and can be approached from different perspectives. This plurality allows a
broader result on the totality of those involved in the program, having a greater
overall effectiveness in the evaluation.
In the case of an educational program, for example, a remedial math program
for first-year high school students. Explain who would be the interested
parties and substantiate your answer.
Based again on the presentation "evaluation process, January 2019" we can say that
the interested persons are:
- The institution's directors.
- Teachers in the area of mathematics.
- First year high school students.
- The parents or guardians of these students.
Well, here we are involved all the interested people such as, people involved in the
operation of the program, people affected or served by the program, the people
who will use the results of the evaluation.

Exam 1
Institutions that provide social impact services increasingly require
program evaluations. The desire to know how well they are doing. In
particular, educational institutions need to know how they can
improve their services so that students can improve their learning,
. Institutions are also facing internal and external pressures to
increase their quality even with limited budgets. Additionally,
different organizations have been created to accredit academic
programs and require institutions to assess how well they are
achieving their objectives and to report on their efforts to improve
them.
As we have seen in this unit, a good evaluation requires detailed
planning. Program evaluation is an essential part of effective
development and implementation. Detailed planning prior to
conducting evaluations will ensure the successful execution of the
evaluation.
Developing an evaluation plan is an essential part of the planning
process. The evaluation plan serves as a guide for conducting a
program evaluation. The plan should:
- Outline a coherent approach to conducting the evaluation and using
the results.
- Guide the evaluation by explaining what the activities are, when
they should occur and how they will be performed.
- Document the process for stakeholders.
- Ensure the implementation of the evaluation.
Which of the following statements shows the correct sequence for the
process of a program evaluation?

Select one:
Description, questions, methods, analysis, report.

Methods, questions, description, report, analysis.

Analysis, description, questions, methods, report.

Questions, description, methods, analysis, report.

Feedback
From your perspective, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of
incorporating program evaluation in educational institutions?
Advantages:
- the evaluation will always aim at quality.
- allows us to continuously improve.
- contextualizes us, allows us to discover how accurate we are with respect to social
reality.
- The results of the evaluation allow us to propose actions to be taken to improve the
shortcomings found in the process.
- allows us to know the achievements and limitations, and allows us to study the
actions to be taken to minimize these limitations.
Disadvantages:
- the evaluation determines the failures, but does not have the solution, this must be
proposed by the experts when the results of the evaluation are known.
- when the staff of evaluators are not experts, there is a risk of not having an objective
and careful evaluation.
- the evaluation, after the results are in, should force the necessary changes to be
made, otherwise the evaluation was meaningless and time was wasted.
In your opinion, do you consider that the evaluation presented in the
case is congruent with the definition that explains that program
evaluation is the purposeful, systematic and careful collection and
analysis of information used for the purpose of documenting the
effectiveness and impact of a program and to identify areas requiring
change and improvement?tic and careful collection and analysis of
information used for the purpose of documenting the effectiveness
and impact of a program and to identify areas requiring change and
improvement? Argue your answer.
Based on the case of the week, I do consider that the evaluation presented is
congruent with the definition that refers to the purposeful, systematic and careful
collection, since such evaluation allows to know from different perspectives such as
from managers, teachers, students and families, the impact that the Blackboard
Digital program has had. In this evaluation, based on the case, we have been able
to obtain separate information, which meets the definition proposed in the question.
The Pizarra Digital case was evaluated in all its environments, both rural and
urban, in different economic societies, as well as the different actors, where very
good conclusions and opportunities for improvement were obtained in those most
directly involved in the program, such as teachers and students.n involved in this
program, such as teachers and students, and from which interesting conclusions
were drawn, such as which group of teachers were more or less friendly with this
type of program, which teachers used it the most, and which students were getting
the most out of the program.
Explain and argue what type(s) of evaluation the submitted evaluation
corresponds to.
Referring to Picado, X. (1990) we can say that the evaluation presented in the case
involves at least two types of evaluation:
1. process evaluation which consists of a sequential analysis of the program using
social research procedures with the objective of identifying whether the program
operates as initially planned, as well as whether it has been accurate and has had
the desired effect on the population on which the program was created.
By means of the process evaluation we could give answers to certain questions
such as:
Has the program been efficiently and effectively managed and administered in
order to achieve the established goals and thus benefit the target population?
Were the procedures used in the implementation derived from or have they been
modified according to the program's initial approach?
2. we can also associate an impact evaluation, where the same author refers to this
as the evaluation that investigates the extent to which the program has promoted
changes in the desired direction. In order to identify these aspects, a series of
conditions should be taken into account, such as clearly defined goals and
indicators of success, as well as the use of valid scientific methods in order to
demonstrate that the changes obtained with the program are the result of the
program and not due to any other factor or circumstance.
Exam 4 program evaluation
Implementation evaluations (more commonly called process
evaluations, program monitoring or formative evaluations) document
whether a program has been implemented as expected and why or
why not. When conducting process evaluations, you should examine
whether activities are occurring, who is carrying them out, who they
are reaching, and whether sufficient inputs have been mobilized.
Process evaluation is important to help distinguish the causes of:
poor program performance: Is the program a bad idea or is it a good
idea but being inadequately implemented? In all cases, process
evaluations measure whether the program's performance is faithful to
the initial plan.
A process evaluation seeks to contrast the actual performance of a
program with what was planned. Of the following options, which
aspect could be considered in a process evaluation?

Select one:
The duration of the program.

Methods for collecting information.

Quality of services.

Sources of information.
You have been asked to do a formative assessment at a community health
clinic where parents are taught how to treat common illnesses that occur in
family groups and how to identify something that may be more serious. The
goals are to increase the number of parents with basic knowledge of
preventive care, first aid and basic treatment strategies and to reduce the
number of children and elderly people whose illnesses could become
complicated.
What is the program?
Training on preventive care and first aid for parents and/or persons responsible for
older adults.
What are the expected results of the program?
- That parents are able to prevent injuries caused by common, easily identifiable
accidents.
- That parents are able to identify latent risks that may cause harm to family
members, especially children and older adults.
- That parents are able to provide first aid to any person victim of a common
accident.
- Minimize the accident and fatality rate caused by common accidents.
- To awaken self-care and accident prevention in the people trained.
- that adults become aware of the care that should be taken of both children and
the elderly.
4.Write a descriptive process question for this evaluation.
What would be the benefits to the community of training parents on accident
prevention and first aid training for both children and the elderly?
