Q.1 Peripheral devices

 PRINTER
o Purpose: To print images and document.
o Features: Resolution, Speed, Color and cache memory.
o Use: Print text, print document file, print diagram & pictures, print boo
book, print story book and print graphics & banners.
 Scanner
o Purpose: Capture images and photographic prints, posters, magazines,
pages and similar sources for computer editing and display.
o Features: It has a computer processor, a scan head and an output device.
o Use: Scan or take pictures of a document, digitize the information, display
it on your screen and store it on your connected computer.
 Keyboard
o Purpose: Putting information including letters, words and numbers into
your computer.
o Features: Letters, numerals, punctuation marks and symbols.
o Use: To type letters, numerals, punctuation marks and symbols.
 Mouse
o Purpose: To point at an object you see on the monitor.
o Features: It has a casing, sensor, a roller ball and two click buttons
o Use: To control the movement of the cursor on the computer screen.
 Joy stick
o Purpose: To control the cursor.
o Features: It includes a base and a handle that can be moved to the left or
right direction, also it can be rotated in different amounts to handle the
movement of the cursor in a computer device.
o Use: It is used to play games and move cursor on computer screen.
 Bar code reader
o Purpose: Capture and translate barcode into number and letters
o Features: A cable and an internal decoder which is attached to the
computer, using appropriate connection.
o Use: To scan and translate the barcodes.
 Web cam
o Purpose: Online meetings, conferencing and online education.
o Features: Image archiving, motion sensing, custom coding and even
automation.
o Use: For video conferencing with programs, such as ZOOM, GOOGLE
MEET, SKYPE and other applications.
 Monitors
o Purpose: To display images, text, video and graphic information
generated by the computer via a computer video card.
o Features: Color depth, color space, high dynamic range (HDR), refresh
rate and adaptive sync.
o Use: To for gaming, word processing, web browsing, data entry, business,
sending and receiving mails.

 GW-BASIC. GW-BASIC is a dialect of the BASIC programming language


developed by Microsoft from IBM BASICA. It was bundled with MS-DOS
operating systems on IBM PC compatibles. It is a self-contained executable that
does not need the ROM BASIC. It has a large number of graphic commands and
is suitable for simple games and business programs. The initials “GW” may stand
for “Graphics and Windows” or “Gee-Whiz”.
