1 Introduction
This document provides the introduction, technical descriptions, parameter configuration, counters, alarms, and validation procedure of the LTE FDD Extended Cell Radius
feature.
The parameters, alarms and counters in this document are the same as those of the latest software version when this document is released. To obtain the MO, parameters,
alarms, and KPIs of the existing software version, please refer to the product manuals of the existing software version.
This document is applicable to LTE FDD mode. "LTE" and "eNodeB" mentioned in this document respectively refer to "LTE FDD" and "LTE FDD-based eNodeB".
FDD single-mode V3.5.10 corresponds to GUL multi-mode V4.17.10, and LTE technology description and operation requirements in the corresponding versions are the
same.

2 Function Description
Extended cell radius feature of LTE systems refers to the extended coverage over special open areas (such as sea surface, prairie, and desert) beyond the coverage of common macro base
stations. The application of ultra extended coverage, especially sea surface coverage, can provide communication support for fishermen in their life and sailing, and offer high-quality radio
communication services for marine fishery and port operation. Therefore, ultra extended coverage is an important part of mobile communications.
The ARPU is low in such open areas because of the small number of users. Thus, ultra extended coverage is the preferred solution to marine coverage because it can maximally increase
coverage and save costs.
For sea coverage scenario, the distance between the eNodeB and sea shore is usually in kilometers (considering 20km in maximum), and the 100km coverage from the sea shore can be
achieved by raising the angle of antenna. From the perspective of eNodeB, 100km ultra extended coverage is achieved in addition to 20km coverage mentioned above.
ZTE has been committed to the study on ultra extended coverage for years. Based on a large amount of actually-measured data, ZTE revised the sea coverage model, set up a sea coverage
model library, and accumulated rich experience in planning and optimization. ZTE ultra extended coverage base stations for CDMA and UMTS systems are widely used in the some Chinese
coastal regions, including Hainan Province, Fujian Province, Beihai City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and some areas of Liaoning Province along the Huanghai Sea and the Bohai
Sea.

3 Technical Description
Random access preamble format consists of cyclic prefix and preamble sequence as shown below:
The specific parameter configuration depends on the system mode and random access preamble format configuration.

For the configuration limitation for PRACH Configuration Index, refer to ZTE LTE FDD Physical Layer Procedure Feature Guide in Section 3.2.1
In a normal scenario (the parameter EUtranCellFDD.sceneCfg is set to 0 and PrachFDD.highSpeedFlag is set to Not High Speed Cell), if extend cell radius function needs to be enabled,
parameters PrachFDD.prachFMRecOnTASwch and PrachFDD.prachUltiCapSwch should be set to "0" first.
In other scenarios, extended coverage is disabled. If PrachFDD.prachSupFarCoverSwch is set to open, PRACH supports extended coverage, and the following parameters should be
configured:
- PrachFDD.ncs
- PrachFDD.numberOfRAPreambles
- PrachFDD.sizeOfRAPreamblesGroupA
- PrachFDD.macNonContenPreamble
- PrachFDD.prachConfigIndex
Based on the actual network coverage, users can configure these parameters according to the following table.
