1.0 PURPOSE
The intent of this document is to provide a complete Method Statement for the use of proposed stainless
steel coating product. it includes the manpower and construction methodology in compliance with RC
requirements, drawings and technical specification with safety measures and quality control.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The Royal Commission intends to coat the stainless steel railing at Al-Fanatir shoreline protection
structure. This method statement sets out requirements for the surface preparation, application
requirement and coating thickness on stainless steel railing as per RC Guideline and Specification (RC
GLS).

Following materials will be used at the site

Material handling and delivery on site
Materials will be delivered and received in the lay down area store room, in secured and controlled
room, or temporary lay down area at site. For the ready mix concrete it will be deliver on site by
transit mixer and it will be poured using a concrete pump.

5.0 SITE PLANNING AND PREPARATION


Encroachment permit will be obtained first before starting of any activity in the site. Once the area is
determined and granted, the safety personnel will established the perimeter barricade to warn others and
to prevent the public from entering the worksite. If rerouting is necessary the safety personnel will
establish access roads and install warning devices to warn passing traffic in the area. Once all necessary
equipment is positioned, commence the preparatory job. This isolation method will be strongly
employed throughout the duration of the project to prevent hazard to the public. Also a Safety
watchman will be available during working hours for public and workers safety

6.0 WORK PROCEDURE


6.1 SURFACE PREPARATION OF EXISTING RAILING
1.0 Remove the portions(s) of Railing from the selected area and barricade the selected area of removed
railing as required
2.0 Store the anchor bolts and anchoring assembly properly for future use.
3.0 Place the railing in such a way it can be clean all around.
4.0 Cordon off the surrounding of railing such that dust particles carry by wind does not stick on the
surface after cleaning.
2.0 Rinse the railing pipes with cleaning solvent
3.0 Let the surface area dry up to required time
6.2 APPLICATION OF 1ST COAT
1.0 Add thinner on coating product by 5% to 10 % in volume.
2.0 Directly apply coating product on pre-cleaned surface of railing with a minimum dry film thickness
of 80 micron by spray application.
3.0 An orifice nozzle of 0.013”-0.014” can be used as required with a nozzle pressure of 90-100 bars.
4.0 Let the surface dry for at least 16 hours after 1st Coat.
6.3 APPLICATION OF 2ND COAT
1.0 Add thinner on coating product by 5% to 10 % in volume
2.0 Directly apply coating product on pre-coated surface of railing with a minimum dry film thickness
of 80 micron by spray application.
3.0 An orifice nozzle of 0.013”- 0.014” can be used as required with a nozzle pressure of 90-100 bars.
4.0 Let the surface dry for at least 16 hours after 2nd Coat/Final Coat.

6.4 SITE CLEAN UP AND RESTORATION


1.0 Once coating is dried. Reinstall the railing to its original position.
2.0 Ensure the fixing bolts and base plates are in good position. Repair the damaged portion of concrete
caused by the removal of anchor bolts if any.
3.0 Clean and clear the site orderly in condition.
4.0 Remove all tools used, equipment and materials from the demolition site upon completion of work

Request for Inspection of Work (RFI) shall be issued to RC Field Engineer 24 hours in
