COMPUTER SYSTEM- A collection of different parts that are designed to received, process, manage meaningful information format.
1. Hardware
2. Software
3. Peopleware
I. HARDWARE – refers to the physical, tangible parts of the computer. Part of the computer where we can touch.
Components of HARDWARE are INPUT DEVICES, OUTPUT DEVICES, PROCESSING UNIT, and STORAGE DEVICES.
A. INPUT DEVICES – input device is a piece of equipment used to provide data and control signals to an information processing
system, such as a computer or information appliance.
1. KEYBOARD
A keyboard is primarily used as an input device. With a keyboard, one may play games, access menus, compose documents, use
keystroke shortcuts, and perform several other functions.
2. MOUSE
The mouse is a hand-held input device which is used to move cursor or pointer across the screen.
B. OUTPUT DEVICES - The output device displays the result of the processing of raw data that is entered in the computer through an
input device. It may be TEXT, PICTURE, SOUND
1. MONITOR - The monitor is the display unit or screen of the computer. It is the main output device that displays the processed data
or information as text, images, audio or video.
2.PRINTER - A printer produces hard copies of the processed data. It enables the user, to print images, text or any other information
onto the paper.
C. PROCESS DEVICE – used to process data using instructions from the program.
2. CPU (Central Processing Unit) – Brain and Heart of the computer system.
D. STORAGE DEVICE - the component of your computer that allows you to store and access data on a long-term basis.
1. Hard Drive Disk - A hard drive is the hardware component that stores all your digital content.
2. Flash drives - Flash are non-volatile solid state storage devices which use NAND flash memories to store data (millions of
transistors).
II. SOFTWARE - Software is a set of instructions, data or programs used to operate computers and execute specific tasks.
1. System Software - software programs are designed to run a computer's application programs and hardware. The OS (Operating
System) is the best example of system software.
2. Application Software - Application software is intended to perform certain tasks. Examples of application software include office
suites,
