YOUTH IDEATHON 2023


Management Entrepreneurship Professional Skills Council (MEPSC) under Ministry of Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India and ThinkStartup are organizing
YOUTH IDEATHON 2023, India’s Largest K-12 School Level Ideas Festival to harness innovation
and entrepreneurship potential on young minds of India.

YOUTH IDEATHON 2023 is a 5-stage competition that shall be launched on 6th October 2023
and the finals shall be held on 18th Nov 2023. The theme of this event is “iStartup a Good Thing
for India”. This is an online event. For fair representation of schools and students from each
region, this year YOUTH IDEATHON shall have regional rounds. School students can submit their
innovation ideas on the website www.YouthIdeathon.in.

YOUTH IDEATHON 2023 intends to provide following benefits

 Build innovation and entrepreneurial mindset in our school students.


 Encourage school students to research about ground level problems and
find creative solutions to those problems.
 Channelize youth energy in solving nation’s problems.
 There will be free online HIGMID workshops for students by entrepreneurs -
How I Got My Idea (HIGMID) (details on website).
 Faculty Workshops (details on website).
 National Level, State Level and Theme Award winner students shall be
provided. incubation and mentoring support through various incubators.

The session for faculty and student on the topic “How to get Good Ideas” will be conducted by the
organizers on 11th October, 2023 & 18th October, 2023. Faculty / Students can register for this
workshop on the website (www.YouthIdeathon.in)

Heads of all the affiliated schools must encourage their students and faculty to participate
in this unique program in a big way.

YOUTH IDEATHON 2023

Started in 2021, YOUTH IDEATHON (www.YouthIdeathon.in) is India’s most


exciting innovation and entrepreneurship competition for school students. The ideathon contest
engages with youth to energize them and connect with their passions to discover societal
problems and propose solutions that can make lives of humanity better. Its motto is MERA
IDEA JO BADAL DE BHARAT, thereby implying, an idea that can change India.

In the 2022 edition, more than 95000 school students from over 7000 schools. Now we are all
set to launch Youth Ideathon 2023

Government of India through its initiatives like New Education Policy (NEP 2020), Atma
Nirbhar Bharat, Startup India, Make in India has put emphasis on developing creative
potential in school students. Therefore, it is important to take this message of innovation and
entrepreneurship to the youth of today to encourage them to develop the spirit of innovation
and harness their potential to dream futuristic ideas and make it happen.

Youth Ideathon 2023 (YI23) shall build upon the work of the 2nd edition of Youth Ideathon to
carry forward the mission of developing school level entrepreneurship.

YI23 festival is designed to encourage school students all across India to explore
entrepreneurship through ideation, prototyping and idea pitch to expert panel. It is expected to
generate participation from over 200,000 school students from all parts of India – cities, towns,
villages, everywhere.

YI23: OBJECTIVES
The objectives of Youth Ideathon 2023 are as below:

1. Encourage school students to dream big and build real solutions.


2. Develop the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in school students
3. Recognise efforts of motivated school teachers / mentors and schools who are
working behind the scenes to develop entrepreneurship in schools
4. Nurture high potential student ideas with incubation support
5. Open doors of angel funding for incubated student ventures

YI23: WHO IS IT FOR?

YI23 aspires that school level innovation and entrepreneurship should be captured,
rewarded and harnessed.
This can be achieved only with the participation of critical school education stakeholders
– students, teachers and school.

Who is it for?
1. YI23 is OPEN for registration for following categories:
a. All Bona-fide School Students from any school board – Central,
State or International.
b. Teachers and Mentors of School Students
c. Schools

2. STUDENTS: YI23 is OPEN for all K12 School Students. However, students
have to participate in teams of 3 to 5 members. Each member must be a bona-
fide school student. YI22 shall reward best teams.

3. TEACHERS / MENTORS: YI23 is also open to all school teachers / mentors.


However, a teacher must have a student team who she is mentoring. YI23
shall special rewards for Teachers of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

4. SCHOOLS: YI23 is also open to all Schools from any Board – Central / State
/ International. There are special rewards for Schools of Innovation and
Entrepreneurship, on the basis of student and teacher participation.
YI23: FORMAT
YI22 is a 5-tiered innovation competition with a unique 5th tier that focusses on
incubating high-potential student ideas into ventures.

Stage 2 is also crowd engagement where teams upload their pitch on YouTube to get
recommendations. Our algorithm gives a “Crowd Score” based on recommendations,
comments, likes and views. In parallel, our Expert Panel then screens each idea and give
an ‘Expert Score” based on “Idea Impact” and “Implementation Potential”.

Stage 3 is Top 100 Teams based on TOTAL SCORE of Stage 2. To create the Top 100 List
with shall be Top 10 Teams from (9+1) regions namely Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Delhi,
Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. These are mapped to
following States and UTs.

In addition, Organizing Team shall have the liberty to select 10 more meritorious teams left
out from any region due to competition. Thus, Stage 3 shall have a total of 100 teams.

Youth Ideathon runs on a tight schedule. Schools are advised to keep students in readiness
